After the first episode my initial impression is that it is not as good as BOB. Early days I suppose but the actors playing the marines just didn’t seem as authentic as those in BOB – HBO set a really high bar with BOB and it may be difficult to repeat that success.

Torrented the first 3 episodes and it IS good. The bonus of this is that it lets the Yanks focus on their own war without pretending that they won the European tour on their own as well. Demonstrates the calibre/determination of their opponents as well. Strangely enough, most Allied soldiers had a grudging respect for German soldiers they came up against, but that does not hold true for anyone that fought in the Far East - possibly because their mindset is so alien to ours. The "win at all costs" point of view is one that you can see the Yanks struggling with even in WWII - and they still failed to understand this point of view through Korea, Vietnam and even now.

Bloody cheek of Sky - 10 episodes making it a series but transmitting it on a movie channel !!!! I pay £10 a month for HD so the least they should do is show it on Sky 1 HD !!!! Well Sky, I'll be downloading it from torrents so stick that in your pipe and smoke it !

We are up to the 3rd episode in Canada, and it is fantastic, I don't normally watch 10 episode series unless its on dvd, but cant wait for the next one. I would say its close to being as good as Band of Brothers
