44 medals and just 3 Gold sounds bad-but 44 medals is 44 medals i know it's Gold that count but oh i don't know your right but i still think a medal is something to cherish no matter what colour is and to win one is an achievement no matter what.

Indeed, and I wish the medal tables reflect this a little - for example 10 points for gold, 4 for silver, 1 for bronze.

But the reason people are having this discussion with you is because you say you think we'll finish 5th overall, because teams like Japan, with good success so far, could overtake us. Clearly Japan's lack of golds is going to make that very difficult, and it's difficult to see us finishing below 4th.
