Sounds like people were a little antsy about Manu not being allowed back on straight away. I missed why he went off, but I'm assuming, given the ref waited until the next break in play, that it was "for a change of equipment". If you leave the pitch for treatment, you can come on as soon as you're ready and it coming on doesn't give you an unfair advantage. If you leave the pitch for a change of equipment (such as a new shirt because of blood) you have to wait until the next break in play. Something similar happened with Bridcutt a couple of seasons ago (itself occurring a couple of weeks after a similar event in a televised match).
