Out now for me, just so frustrating watching us attack knowing what the end product is going to be, hasn’t got a plan B and certain players seemed to have regressed under him.

Well, we started first half as a 3-4-2-1 or a variation of, started second half as a 4-4-2, that evolved into a 3-3-4 toward the end. I can’t necessarily say he doesn’t try things or has no alternatives. What they needed to do was speed up their play and vary their final 3rd pass options a bit, but players seem unwilling to take the risks that expose us on the break - which is where their goal came from.

The overpaid players were the demise of Hughton,

ill discipline cost us the Championship title and they are now ****ing it up for Potter.............

It’s a fans’ forum so there are bound to be widely varied views. I’m not opening the ‘Next Manager’ thread because I remain GP in and am hoping/trusting it will come good in time. I agree with El Presidente and others that the correlation between the wage bill and league position is very strong. Consequently the bottom half of the table is where I expect us to be. If the rumours were correct we were in for Nunez in the summer but the draw of Benfica and European competition outweighed little old Brighton. We missed out on Soucek, who has done really well at WH, quite possibly due to salary. Others too no doubt(Berge?). It’s obvious we have to be clever with our signings eg Lallana and Welbeck who are clearly a class above - our other strategy is build from youth and the riskier foreign buys - some come to fruition eg YB, others don’t eg JL etc. The club are trying to build long-term and it isn’t easy - it’s also tough for fans who long for some success. I wonder how the SU fans feel this season - their team having been lauded last year but struggling this!
Fans are entitled to have a moan but equally those with a more positive mindset can hold their view too. I think it’s the extreme overreaction(either way) that make threads a struggle on match days(imo).
For me I’ll keep the faith and pray harder! Perhaps we’ll win when we’re not expected to! Up the Albion!

Interesting this, Maupay looks shot, as does Trossard and Ryan. Dunk has been poorer than usual this season. Too many of our key players appear to be going backwards under Potter.

Maupay is the interesting one imo, Ryan I think hasn't been great for a while, Dunk to my mind is getting back to his best. Maupay though... fecking hell, He's lost his devilment and his shoot on sight desire. I dunno, it's a confidence game isn't it? We have zero. It's Potter's job to restore it. Alzate is another curious one, I think most of us belived Biss & Alazate would be our midfield duo this season.
All that being said, we're not in the relegation zone and a couple of wins will change it all.

That is poor and I'm Potter In.

I'm Potter In, just, possibly fence.
But 1 in 5 at home, over his entire Albion career is a worry.
Do you want to go to the Amex every week knowing you're likely to see a victory only 1 in 5 games?

Shame no fence in the poll.
Currently I'm Potter in as I can see a marked improvement in style just concerned with the results.
I really hope after training the players stay for an extra couple of hours daily and work on finishing as it doesn't seen to be coming naturally to us.

The fundamental thing for me is, does Potter know what to do to change our fortunes? I don't think he does. I don't accept that a new striker is a panacea, there are more problems with this team than just a lack of killer instinct. We still can't defend set pieces, we are slow and predictable, and have very little character on the pitch. I know we didn't spend a lot on fees but Veltman, Lallana, Welbeck, White and Lamptey are all very decent additions but somehow we seem to be getting worse.

Emotional intelligence

&

Leadership.

A nice bit of South London
Putting Zequiri out on the left with march on the right killed it for me. 1 home win in 2020 is disgusting. i'm a huge fan of the style, but the players have no confidence to even shoot anymore. The man management has been poor. He refuses to change shape even though our players do not fit that shape.

“Disgusting” made me laugh :clap2:

In. And if we go down.

I can't see any upgrade replacements who are available.

Usual blind assumption that a new manager will improve fortunes. A bit odd given that NSC has a mature following in general.

Bring someone else and just bounce this thread 18 months later.

This.

It was accepted when Potter came in that we may have to be relegated to regroup after the dreadful 'going nowhere, ever' malaise under CH. I still think the same, even though half of NSC (voting on this poll) seem to think we should be 'top ten' already or sack the manager. Really?

I would be completely astonished if Potter gets sacked any time soon.

Someone remind me, how did we do at home against the blunts last season? ???

To be fair I think his win rate is not acceptable and voted out, but I do feel Ashworth should take equal responsibility.
When appointed he said his role was to keep the manager in his job, which he failed to do with Hughton and since he was sacked Ashworth was also given the responsibility for recruitment. It is in this area where I feel he has greatly let Potter down

Ashworth has to take some blame as he oversees everything.
Things haven't improved since he has been around. In fact, Hughton really started to wobble around the time DA turned up.

Regarding your last point, I thought about that mid match (pre red card). This time last year we made George Baldock & co look world class.
