maybe not a drum, but a contingent of geese instead?
The lack of geese at the Amex is frankly embarrassing. We all remember the days of wall to wall geese at the Goldstone - it's a symptom of all that's wrong in football that they are so rarely seen nowadays. Could be down to transport issues I suppose.

So, genuine question, what’s the difference between a drum and someone banging the wall?
Whoever brings the drum the wants to become the centre of attention and quickly pisses everyone else off.

Bring a drum by all means but if you happen to be anywhere near me, my restless legs may accidentally kick straight through the skin.

I think you'll find they were chickens on the east terraces, not geese.

going to stick my head above the parapet and say yes. big problem often appears to be the two halves of the north stand singing different songs. a drum solves that overnight. unless you can envisage people banging on the walls during a saturday three o’clock home game to leicester, for example. if we ever want the atmosphere to improve (i do) there needs to be something to get the crowd going again during those games where it might be flat from time to time. i get that the crowd react to what they see on the pitch, but too often we see games simply where it’s flat from first minute to last, and i really don’t doubt that this filters through to the players sometimes. take anfield the other weekend, yes i’m comparing apples and oranges, but the atmosphere there won them the game. i feel half the reason the upstarts promoted from the championship take so many points off us is because we make it so bloody nice for them to come down here

✅ Only to be used in emergencies after a period of prolonged silence.

I’d rather we didn’t need to, but it’s obvious some intervention (at times) is needed

Not a drum!!

At the cricket the Balmy Army have a resident trumpeter who gets the chanting going. Way more classy than a drum.

Just imagine GOSBTS being kept in time round the whole stadium.

Not advocating, just putting it out there?

Utterly tinpot.
I can't believe people still use this as the argument. Are Boca Juniors, Fenerbache, River Plate, Dortmund etc all 'tinpot'? With atmospheres that make the Amex look like a library?

The problem I have with a drum is not the drum itself, it's that you can absolutley guarantee that the person who volunteered to be the drummer would be a self-absorbed attention-seeking dickhead who would insist on extra beats and drum solos and make it all about him, rather than what it should be, which is for him to wait for the songs to start and just drum a simple beat to keep them in time.

He doesn't even exist yet and I already hate him. Twat.
