A hand up here for the Waitrose one. Got a pack of six, managed to eat four before the kids found the,. They were the large ones, I think the smaller variant probably has too much of a pastry to filling ratio

Baker's Delight do the best ones over here. Only drawback is that they are now $9.00 a box of six, so will limit to just 2 x boxes this festive season.

Glad you noticed that surface area/volume ratio. Never considered it in mince pies as what throws that out is if they are a " Deep Fill " pie and also it's a sweet pastry which is nicer.

As a rule I find it best to steer clear of those Mini Pasties and Mini Pork Pies as according to the ratio, most of what you pay for is crap, flavourless pastry.
