Big opportunity to put some space between us and the bottom three and we have blown it. Lose to Wigan away and I can see us going down. How many games have we dropped points against teams in the bottom six. Wigan is now a massive game, if we had won tonight it would have taken the pressure off. I was hoping we could make ourselves safe with three or four games to go so CH could experiment with one or two DS players. They can't do any worse than the strikers we have playing at the moment. A mass clearout is on the cards if we stay up. If we don't, expect them to all get another year on their contract. Even then I wouldn't count on any of them scoring in League 1.

Wow.! really despondent.

We are 8 points clear as it stands.
It would take a sudden change in form for that to put us in the relegation zone.
We have been crap this season but let's see what CH can do with a fresh start and hopefully some money to spend.

Sorry but CMS seems a great bloke but has to go after tonight's showing.Best can go back where he came from also concerned about both full backs and 1 or 2 wide players and, of course,we need 2 strikers who can score at this level. NOT a 20 goal per season Ryman league striker!!!!

As well as the phantom penalty, the BBC got the venue wrong as well :)

Weird, BBC text commentary said "penalty conceded by Joe Bennett" - which gave me palpitations - but now it's disappeared

Thats what I saw hence my "Here it Comes " post ... I left the room to " collect my thoughts " and when I came back ... nothing.

Great result, with Wigan losing, guaranteed safety. Well done CH
Guaranteed? With 42 points we certainly are not. I think - no, I'm pretty sure - we'll eventually edge over the line, but I'd be much happier if we skipped over it quickly and dug it up behind us!

Looks increasingly likely that Baldrick will be the only first team striker on the books before we sign three replacement forwards.

I have a feeling that 42 points will be enough this season. I'd be very surprised if the bottom three doesn't remain the same.

Yeh maybe I am being a bit over despondent and a couple of wins will make us safe. Yes these figures look awful reading. CMS 22 league games 1 league goal. COG 20 games 1 League goal. Baldock 20 games 3 League goals and Leon Best 7 games 0 League goals. I know a lot of these games are as subs, but that really is bad 38 games into the season.

The general consensus is that we won't have any more than we had this season, sadly

Does that refer to just wages though? How about transfer fees?

When I switched over to the Millwall commentary, they were relieved Best was substituted, and thought he was a different class..

I'm so, so grateful that we're edging towards safety... but I feel so, so disillusioned at the quality of our attacking play and the awful, overwhelming sense of "Just how much money have I wasted this year, and why am I such a glutton for punishment that I'm going to continue doing the same?".

I know I haven't spent the money that TB continues to spend but as a percentage of my disposable income it's still a pretty large amount, to me.

Self-inflicted injury, I know, but it feels like the highlight of my week... simply isn't an Albion game any more. Sad, sad, sad.

Flame away if you feel like it. I really don't care, tonight.

I was at the game (unfortunately) so haven't read all 40 pages. More bizarre team selections from CH with CMS after Saturdays performance and Best up front. No width. Finally looked vaguely ok once Tex and COG came on. When will CH realise he is flogging a dead horse with those two starting. Worrying.

Hughton's wingless wonders were dire to watch but they did the job of killing the game stone dead after a dodgy first half-hour. Millwall were so poor up front and out wide that our defence and DS had an easy ride.

It's certainly brutal to watch, playing two up front but no natural wingers just centre mids and full-backs is never going to guarantee much thrills. But I do think there is method in Hughton's madness - he is giving these players a chance to prove they should be here next season and I think he will now have plenty evidence to go to the board to ask for replacements.
