What on earth are Everton up to? They've brought in Dyche, giving themselves a good chance, but then they've let Gordon go with no replacement, and they're odds on 2nd favourites to go down. And it's not like they've been shy of spending money, they've spent a fortune in recent years. So what on earth are they throwing all that away for?

probably balancing the books to make them more attractive for a sale. though that does very little for them in the short term and relegation would change the picture completely, so I agree, strange choice
I actually think that their squad is fine for the sort of anti-football & percentage-football that Dyche will unleash on the Premier League. Think Villa at the Amex, 2nd half.
It’s going to be horrible to watch but will involve supreme defensive organisation, break-up of opposition play and rhythm with constant fouls (1 yellow per player allowed) and booting the ball out of play whenever Everton players are out of position.
Set-pieces will be very well drilled indeed. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be the big man up front as long balls are aimed his way. He’ll hope to find the likes of McNeil or Grey with knockdowns. Onana looks very mobile and strong and will sit at DM, breaking up the opposing play.
I think they’ll survive with Dyche. He has never needed money spending on his squad, he just needs them to gargle aggregate and tar.
