I only paid the princely sum of £8 whereas those who pay on the night have to fork out a whole £10.

No you don't. STH who buy in advance pay £8. Non-STH who pay in advance pay £9. Even by Adrie's maths, that's only £1.
(Anyone who pays on the night pays £10.)
