If we are talking cold matches, i remember Barnet away on Boxing Day in, I think, the season they went down. That was absolutely freezing. However we won with a sharp Harty finish and if my memory serves me well, Paul Watson blazed a penalty over the bar. Flippin 'eck i am an anorak!

Oh pul-eese. Bournemouth posed NOTHING by way of a threat. They were seriously piss-poor.

Quite so, Bournemouth are rubbish. That is why they've taken 11pts from the last 5 including points off QPR, Plymouth, Barnsley and Vale. McGhee of course is to blame when we lose, but when we win it's got nothing to do with him whatsoever. Talk us down as much as you want, Tom, the sad news for you is that we might make the play-offs :clap2:

Very helpful these threads, helps me piece together what actually happens on matchday, when the memory is impaired for one reason or another:jester:

It was nice of Bournemouth not to turn up until the second half.

Good goal by Harty, and Benji took his well too. Knight worries me everytime he does that little shimmy thing before taking a penalty, but it went in so what the hey.

Thought Harding did well as did Virgo.

I was a bit surprised that McGhee didn't replace Big Trev with McPhee towards the end as he was looking knackered.

Jones pissed me off. The number of time he got down the wing and failed to put a cross in was beyond funny. We've got a 6 footer in Benjamin and a great poacher in Knight, and everytime Jones tried to do some fancy footwork he f***ed it up, and when he did manage a cross it went past the far post.

The game was done & dusted after half an hour. I'd liked to have seen us continue to turn the screw, as Bournemouth were so god-awful, the slightest bit of pressure on their defence looked like bringing dividends. Things are that tight in the Playoff positions that goal difference is almost certainly going to come into play this season in the final shake-up, and as Bournemouth were clearly having an off-day, it was a shame we put the brakes on at 3-0. The second half was a complete and utter non-event. If we'd turned in a 2nd half performance like that with the teams still at 0-0, I don't think too many of us would have been very happy with the display at all.

Don't get me wrong - delighted with the 3 points and the clean sheet. But lets not get too carried away. Hart cracked in a superb individual goal, then Bournemouth proceeded to commit defensive suicide to hand us the points on a plate. The second half was utter dross. Bournemouth never looked capable of making any inroads into the deficit (which showed good work defensively from us) but the Albion hardly looked interested in going forward, and the match degenerated into a series of misplaced passes and hoofs down the channels. It would have been nice to have had a 90 minute performance, instead of 45 minutes. Priority was a win though, so mission accomplished...I just hope we don't turn in too many 2nd half performances like that, cos if we wern't already winning, that just wouldn't be good enough.

Bolleaux to the stats. Just use your eyes whydoncha :dunce:

If I could be arsed, I'd dig out the quote from CEEFAX that says both teams played poorly with only four shots on target all game. Mind you, that was only a quote from the B'muff manager ;)

Robinson will play against Stockport, according to McGhee.

Highlight of the game for me was the Bournemouth player (Wade Elliott) who pointlessly hovered over every single free kick they got in our half, before making a cunning dummy run over it, fooling precisely nobody, for the other player to strike the ball in. It didn't matter where the free kick was, he still felt the urge to make the dummy run, as if he thought it might confuse our defence even though he'd already done it 6 times.

The best one was late in the second half, when they got a free kick just outside the centre circle. He walked away, kind of hid for a bit like he was going to mark a player instead, then at the last second, sprinted up behind the taker and ran over the ball again, to large ironic cheers from a section of the South Stand. We were very disappointed that they didn't win another free kick in the game, despite the jobsworth referee.

I thought we played well against a side that'll finish comfortably in mid-table. Bournemouth weren't allowed any time to settle and could have been 2 down before that backpass - Knight had an effort well saved. And you can't ignore the stats - which were that B'mouth hadn't conceded in 3 previous matches (and included QPR and Plymouth).

The fact is that we have a team that, on their day, are capable of comfortably beating any side in this division - even Bristol C. On days like these we can make teams appear poor - as we give them no room. The problem is that all too often it's not our day.

McGhee has had to change the side a lot recently, and next Sat. will be the same. For the last month or so I don't think we've played the same starting 11 for 2 consecutive games - and this has to have an effect on performance. When we were winning 2 championships the team hardly changed from one month to the next - let alone game by game. However, we can now expect some key players to return at a time when we've traditionally done well.

Looking at our remaining games (only 4 against teams in the current top 10) I'm very optimistic about our chances of making the playoffs. Realistically we should be in a breakaway top 5 - with Bris C; Plymouth; QPR and Swindon. 6 points from Stockport and Brentford will underline this potential - and give us breathing space for the day off on March 6th.

Our bad spell started at Bournemouth in October - perhaps it will have ended with the same side in February?

Hmmm......s'funny how Wrexham had more points than us before we both played that rubbish team Bournemouth. Wrexham don't now. A clap for every goal

London, you shoukd have seen the way we played at Dean Court, we were the rubbish team there.

This league dosen't make a whole lot of sense nobody is really consistant. The play-off places are a lottery.

The lack of consistency in this division illustrates why all these teams are not playing at a higher level. We all know that on our day, Albion are capable of beating all but maybe the top dozen teams in the land. On the other hand, I wouldn't put my mortgage on Albion beating a pub team.
