News coming in that Tour director Christian Prudhomme has already fired the motorbike rider who caused the accident with Sorensen.

Good!

Have that, without his train as well. He was so far behind with 100 metres to go.

To be fair, the monitors they have to view it on are tiny. I have trouble spotting riders on a big telly. Now they all wear shades and helmets - its awkward to tell them apart.

That said, Cavendish is very distinctive in his size / riding style and Harmon should have been able to call it right

The main thing Harmon has going for him is that he isn't Carlton Kirby. Now Kirby might be second to only Mark Bright in the annoying sports commentator/pundit stakes.

Wow, top work Cav, I have just watched it as live .
The speed in the last couple of kms was awesome, quite how anyone rides off the front is beyond me.

The thought of watching the Tour without Phil & Paul is the stuff of nightmares, why anyone would chose to is proper mentals.

I don't have a TV so have to watch online. The Eurosport picture is so much better than the ITV one, so that could be one reason. I do actually still watch ITV though for the reson you mentioned. If only the commentary synced from one channel to the other.

Classic Phil today, as the breakaway approached the intermediate sprint:-

'well it looks like this will go uncontested'
At the moment the riders all charge off to the line!

That was good. I also liked the bit when he stole Paul's thunder by being the one giving those inane stats about the latest Chateau on the hele cam, you could hear the tension.

That tune is written by Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks fact fans. The sound of childhood summers for me, really wish ITV would bring it back.

Here's another video with exactly the same music but less psychedelic visuals and better sound quality.

Like SB I watch 'as live' in the evenings and just finished watching tonight before coming here as per usual. Crazy crazy stage for crashes today ! - one of the worst I've seen in years in terms of sheer amount on one stage I think. Any news on Boonens injuries ? Good to hear he just about got in in the time limit.

Lovely sight to see Cav pull that finish off today....will do his confidence the world of good too after all the shananagans he's been having in the intermediates, and I expect he'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief (despite what he says about not panicking).

Just a quick word on that acceleration from Ben Swift today approaching the finish from the overhead camera....WOW !!!

I'm thinking tomorrow could see someone nick the stage jumping from a breakaway group tomorrow as there's a little climb close to the finish. First French stage win this year in the shape of Sandy Casar anyone ? - I note he won Paris–Camembert this year.

Yes, must be something at your end. They are basically the old channel 4 TdF theme tune, well worth a listen, I have done so about ten times this evening already.

Strange because I have a music thread with loads of youtube vids bookmarked on here and I checked and they're fine, except for one persons posts. I love that old C4 tune. Phil & Paul got me hooked then and 20 odd years later I'm still watching, only this time it's a whole lot more than the measly half hour an evening we used to get :)
