Well someone had to start one.

Other than hoping Argo wins best film, I've not much else to add.

Not enough stars, the word thread hasn't got a capital letter and no picture of the Oscar statuette.
The whole thing is doomed to disaster now :)
4 *'s are sufficient, it's not like The Brits Are Coming.

Thread would be grammatically incorrect (fingers crossed).

How the fook am I going to get a picture into the thread title?

Ralph Fiennes not winning for Schindler's List is generally regarded as one of the grestest ever Oscar travesty's.

E! has got to be the worst channel, I love advert breaks every 5 minutes especially when they are always the same. But when the alternative is Piers Morgan on CNN...

Hope Django Unchained or Lincoln wins best picture, Quentin Tarantino best original screenplay, Christoph Waltz best supporting actor and Daniel Day-Lewis best leading actor

I mainly want to see Joaquin Phoenix win for Best Actor. His performance was incredible. Much as I love Day-Lewis as Lincoln, he is a great actor playing Abraham Lincoln - the material was there and he duly delivered. Phoenix, on the other hand, is playing a character who is almost impossible to read, emotionally dysfunctional and barely has an 'arc' throughout the film, yet he still makes it a mesmerising performance to watch. I think it's a truly unique performance that demonstrates a level of skill and transformation that most Oscar-baiting performances don't come close to.

That said, he hasn't got a hope in hell!

So Argo was the best film despite being directed by Ben Afleck.

Not much there for Lincoln ? to coin a phrase, "There will be Blood" later on here when someone logs on this morning, glad I'm working.

I am pretty gutted Spielberg did not win his 3rd best director Oscar. It was the biggest shock of the night as he was 1/5 to win it. Very happy DD-L won as the film will be remembered as his film, one of the greatest acting performances of all time imo. Lincoln won 2. A lot of it make no sense, Argo won best film but Affleck wasn't even nominated as best director.

Predictable and disappointing Oscar for the "new Olivier" DDL. Guess I'll have to see Argo now but didn't hear great things about it when it was released. Bit of a dull Oscars in fact.

It was certainly my film of the year, although I haven't seen all the others!

I'm 43, so the Iranian hostage crisis was the very first world news story I was aware of, making the film all the more special for me.
