It's easy to forget that England were ever involved in this tournament-and perhaps a good thing. It's all about the football now, and what a wonderful summary tonight was.

What a fantastic game of football!

Have to hand it to this USA team, they give 100% every game and are rarely lacking in entertainment value. Did themselves proud in this tournament.

Pleased to see Belgium improve on their lack lustre group performances. Perhaps they can live up to the hype after all and go on improving. I hope they can and do.

I realise we just hung on for 100 minutes, but for the last 10 I thought we had a chance.... Gutted.

Don't be gutted. That was utterly inspiring to watch. Lukaku made a huge difference. The US is getting very close to world domination! I give it 8 years.....

Magnificent entertainment. Game of the World Cup so far for me.

If England had 1/4 of the USA's drive, guts and determination, we might even have beaten Costa Rica.

Agreed. These last few games have really gripped America, far more than 4 years ago when they got knocked out at the same stage.

One of the more loony right wing commentators has really misjudged the mood. Ann Coulter had these words of wisdom "Any growing interest in soccer is a sign of moral decay" Sometimes the States can be a scary place to live.
