Just said the same here.
Looking at the surge in far right politics across Europe, Reform getting a foothold here is a worrying prospect.
Tories smashed by Reform again. Labour win. Blyth. Only 53% turnout.

Seems a low turnout in both Sunderland and South - both in the low 50%s.
Maybe that's typical for that area, but it's way below the typical national number.

My parents are based in Horsham, where my dad used to say people would vote a baboon in just because it had a blue arse. Now expected to go lib dem.
My own traditionally very blue constituency is expected to go labour. The outgoing MP was in post for years and often showed his face locally, and I suspect a lot of people voted for who they knew. This time he saw the writing on the wall and "decided not to stand".* So people here may now vote more for the politics than the person.
As for me, as I'm bound by various civil and public service codes I usually tend to avoid the political threads on here - so I couldn't possibly tell you how I voted or I'd have to kill you. Which would be a real ballache having to find out who you all are in real life.
But now the pre-election period is over, I can perhaps intimate it may not have been for any government which oversaw food banks inside police stations for officers, and health workers sleeping in their cars. Perhaps.
Anyway, to the more important question. After a Greek mixed grill, it's now co-op lightly salted tortilla chips, dips, and cheap malbec (a box!) in the Midget household.
*If you're worried don't be, he'll be fine. I spoke to him in Westminster a few years ago and he was planning to write a satirical political novel when he retired as an MP.
I'm guessing over the last few years he's gathered all the material he needs and more.

Are people disaffected, disenfranchised? The significant Reform (protest?) vote would seem to add to this feeling.
Sunderland down to 52.1% from 57.8% last time.

No. And Sunderland and Blyth are heavily Brexitty gammon areas. Thank goodness the majority have some sense.
Ledsome says Tories are not 'conservative enough'. 'Natural party of government' . I predict a tory internal culture war - if any one nationers still exist and have any bollocks.

As I mentioned earlier 2001 had 59% turnout,(2005 was 61%) but now we have voter ID so don't be surprised if it's less than that
