Sadly I can’t keep myself in the manner of some here, but I will be having a small celebratory dram if we do indeed see the back of these shysters.

I fear the fact that twenty percent of the UK population seem to blindly just vote Conservative regardless of what they say or do, so am not yet convinced that we will be seeing the sort of result some polls are predicting.

I’ve done my democratic duty, will head to bed at nine with the alarm set for two AM. Speak to those of you making a night of it and still sober enough to type then.

IHT and CGT are loathed, Reeves will target that in time. I wonder if council tax with ramp up for expensive homes. Also BTL landlords know Labour will devise punitive laws like the SNP.

I understand that, but it’s still a disappointing way to use a vote, with the ladder drawn up after themselves, slyly ensuring that polices are put in place that deny others the same opportunities they had themselves.

We’re all just passing through, the idea is that we leave something worthwhile behind us.

Just been told by the father-in-law that having Labour in will mean we'll have 'to pay more'. Firstly, we pointed out that we don't have a problem with paying taxes for the general good. Secondly, don't think he believed us that taxes are currently higher than they have ever been in my lifetime and Labour haven't been in power.

People in the main prioritise their family’s finances to wealth. Elections other than 2019 are decided on personal finance and financial prospects.

A good example would be; people seem dead against paying towards nursing homes out of home equity (big £ numbers in southern England), “because 100% of it belongs to my offspring”. Folk of all political colours talk the virtuous talk, but generally only want other groupings to tax more tax. The opposite of Denmark/Finland/Sweden where income tax rates for everyone but the poorest are far greater than in the UK. To pay for their generous safety net and parental pay.

Having a few beers now so should fall asleep soon after ten and be awake again before midnight. Then the snacks start but no more alcohol.

You’re lucky to be able to turn on/off naps like that. I’ve always had too active a mind. Pre clubbing catnaps here or overseas were difficult for me.

Same here. Never been able to nap during the day, no matter how tired after an all-nighter or whatever!

That’s true, and to an extent I can’t blame them for that.

However, when people look at (for example) the outright corruption and incompetence, coupled with the outright lying of the incumbents, then surely there’s more to voting than a purely financial incentive?

We have (to my mind) built a deeply unhappy and unhealthy society, that teaches that might makes right, and any means justifies the end. Both issues that society as a concept was initially founded to try and prevent.

Do you genuinely believe that there is no moral component to voting, is it all about the pounds and pence?
