Why was it put back a few years later?
I preferred the much lower old roof, it helped the atmosphere and the darkness made it far harder to police

The new roof was 'opened' a few games into the 1984/85 season. Against Barnsley if I remember correct.

It looked much better at night under floodlights when the colours stood put more.

I'm surprised it stayed until that long, I was always getting covered in rust in the late 60's.... if you ever witnessed John Templeman and others in the team take a shot at goal you'll understand why.
