And so I did.

HORSHAM YMCA 2-1 Peacehaven & Telscombe (Saturday 9th March)
Like @stewart12, I visited a non-league ground that has Albion history. The main stand at Gorings Mead has seats that came from the south stand of the Goldstone!

The ground is located at the end of a residential street, off the main road. There are two stands: the main stand and a terraced stand on the other side of the pitch. Of course, I had to sit in the main stand as requested.

Food and drink is served inside the clubhouse; the entrance is to the side of the main stand. There is a bar in one room and a kitchen serving food in the other. It's a modern, open space. I went for the chips (£2.50) which were alright.

Horsham YMCA took on Peacehaven & Telscombe in the SCFL Premier. The first-half was uneventful and it was 0-0 at the break.

The second-half, however, was the complete opposite. Peacehaven & Telscombe took the lead shorty after the break but Horsham YMCA immediately responded with a good header. Both sides had chances but the goalkeepers were playing a blinder. Eventually, Horsham YMCA scored the winner from a penalty although I didn't see why it was given. In celebration, one of the YMCA players accidentally kicked the ball towards the Peacehaven keeper. I believe the keeper then hit the YMCA player with his elbow, in retaliation, which caused a scuffle amongst the players and coaches. It nearly escalated out of control. The referee gave yellows to several players but no red cards 🤷‍♂️

In the end, it was a good win for Horsham YMCA who are six places below Peacehaven & Telscombe. It's a great football club for the local community and I would highly recommend visiting, especially with its Albion connection.

Thank you to @Cowfold Seagull for suggesting this and good luck to YMCA for the rest of the season!

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Gorings Mead.

The club have planning permission for a 3G pitch which will hopefully bring in much needed revenue.

One other Albion related link - I'm pretty sure that Lewis Dunk made his Albion debut here , coming on as a sub in a Sussex Senior Cup game....

Dunk did start for the Albion at Gorings Mead in the SSC on Feb 25 2009 (when he was a 1st-year scholar), but it certainly wasn't his debut for the reserves - he'd made numerous appearances before that (including starting at Crawley in an earlier round).

seem to remember that the remarkable thing from the Horsham YMCA game was that he played alongside Adam Hinshelwood

Hornchurch, formidable opponents. It'll be a tough one.

Steyning v Eastbourne United ended in three points for the Barrowmen in a close, open game between two evenly matched sides unable to exercise any control over proceedings. The game was won by bravery by the best player on the pitch who was clattered in a challenge for a bouncing ball with the United keeper but managed to head the ball ending flat out on the deck. Take a bow Harry Shooman.

Enjoyable afternoon. The Barrowmen move back to the top of the table, having played more games. This is going to the wire.

Saltdean United deservedly went home with 3 points today from their visit to The Polegrove and move 2 points clear of Uckfield at the foot of the SCFL premier division with no.8 Kacper Ziolkowski scoring the only goal in the 50th minute .
