I find myself with some non league availability this arvo, where should I head to?
I would recommend Steyning Town vs Maidstone United in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup (3:00pm KO, today)

They want four digit numbers in attendance, currently it is at 920!

EDIT: Also found out that there is Eastbourne United vs Berkhamsted, another possible giant-killing in the FA Cup (3:00pm KO, today)

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
A 2-1 win for Lewes last night at Ascot United saw them through to the 3rd qualifying round. A reminder of all today's FA Cup ties involving Sussex sides:

Sheppey United v Burgess Hill Town
Eastbourne Borough v Worthing
Steyning Town Community v Maidstone United
Eastbourne United v Berkhamsted
Whitehawk v Redhill
Horsham v Marlow
Dover Athletic v Hastings United

Mansfield Woodhouse, actually.
Nobody's mentioned Albion currently live on BBC iPlayer (and possibly red button on TV). Tadcaster that is, hosting Chester so ninth v sixth tier. For matches like this I like to watch in split screen, only paying attention when the commentary demands it! Bit disappointing they haven't put the full names for the Sussex teams, especially as there are two Eastbournes hosting ties at 3pm.

It wasn't a classic by any means at Priory Lane today where Eastbourne Borough lost by the only goal of the game scored by Jake Robinson ,
making his first start in over a year due in injury . Welcome back .
Only a combination of outsatanding saves though from the Rebels goalkeeper Roco Rees , incredible good fortune and some woeful finishing from both sides kept the score down and resulted in Worthing being in the hat for the next round along with Lewes , Horsham and Whitehawk .

Attendance was I think 1056 , with 198 in the segregated away end .

Hadn't noticed it's against another Isthmian Premier League veteran as the Swansea keeper was Carl Rushworth of Worthing(and Albion)

Crowborough 2-2 Midhurst

Real game of two halves. Crowborough dominant first half. Went 1 up after 3 mins. Really should have had the game sewn up by half time. 5 minutes before the interval Midhurst suddenly woke up and started playing.

Second half was scrappy and it took an error from the Crowborough keeper to gift Midhurst a goal about 15 mins from time. This woke Crowborough up again and they looked like they had in the first half. Crowborough went back in front with a cool finish after a decent save. Thought that would be it and the points were in the bag but Midhurst scored an absolute cracker. The sub who had a shit haircut curled a beauty into the top corner from a tight angle. Crows did have another spell of pressure towards the end but Midhurst held on for a deserved point.

Borough's finishing has been woeful since they've turned professional. Credit to Worthing though, they are absolutely flying at the moment.

Took a trip up to Bromley to watch Cray v Ramsgate in the FA Cup. Cray went into a 2 goal lead after half time, when Ramsgate had really been the more dominant side. Those of a Lewes persuasion will be pleased (or not pleased) to know that it was the Joe Taylor show as he scored a penalty in the 86th Minute and then deep into stoppage scored a flicked header from a corner to send the 100 or so Ramsgate into delirium. As they would say, a proper cup tie.

A great day at the Shooting Field against Maidstone. Off the pitch c1,200 people came through the gate (ten times usual). On the pitch we played our game, but it’s not easy against bigger, professional players. But still a great afternoon. First defeat of the season.

Well l reckon your boys did Steyning proud, it certainly wasn't through a lack of effort that lost you the game. clubs such as Maidstone United who compete in the National Leage are always going to be that much fitter and stronger.

You certainly seemed to make a lot of money from the tie, which for clubs in the SCFL has to be the number one aim in cup competitions like the FA Cup.

Cheers, well ... as you know you never make as much as it looks. 50% of the gate to Maidstone, the Bar and Kitchen is run by a third-party (linked to the club but we get nothing from any increased sales), and then cost of security and stewards, portaloos, etc means that it ends up being more a day to advertise the club to the town. We do need to generate a bigger, regular gate. It is all being totted up now - it'll be interesting.

A great day though. Maidstone and their support also played their part. A busy rest of September coming up.

Well l can't say that l am exactly relishing our meetings with you this seson, (the results of them anyway!), l know we were due to host you at Gorings Mead a few weeks back, but it clashed with your FA Cup replay in the previous round.

There is an amazing spirit within the squad this season - and as you saw some really good players.

However - fixture congestion could be an issue. Always a pleasure to go to Gorings Mead mind.
