Took a trip into Kent yesterday and ticked of another new ground at Lindsey Field where Lydd Town hosted Deal Town in the FA Cup 2nd preliminary round .
Both sides of the Southern Counties East Premier Football League .
The occasion was described to me by an enthusiastic home fan as the Clubs biggest match so far in their history as this was their first year in the FA cup and they had already beaten Camberly Town in the previous round .
The first half went well for them and they were 2 up at half time .
Sadly though the Deal goalkeeper Henry Newcombe was injured in a collision from a corner in the 82 min. which required an ambulance to attend and the match to be abandoned with the score unchanged . Hopefully he will recover soon and be back between the sticks for his club .

Thank you for the great photos. However for dullards like me can you identify which team is wearing which coloured strip.

An interesting name on the Lydd Town teamsheet, Ryan Smith in the number 4 jersey. Whilst briefly managing Horsham reserves about 20 years ago l a had young lad of 17 playing for us, now twenty years on that would make him 37 or so, so it could be the same chap, (although l guess Ryan Smith is a common enough name), l know he lived in Hastings so it's possible he could be turning out for a team in Kent.

I wasn't at Woodside Road yesterday as I just happened to be an another game somewhere in the midlands ;)

But saw this ...

Worthing had a pen which they scored from. The goal was ruled out due to encroachment. But instead of the pen being re-taken, the ref awarded an indirect free kick to Aveley!!! The ref and his assistant clearly don't know the rules of the game!!

Good old Nick Blogg, has reffed us many a time at YM in the SCFL. a young lad still with much to learn. As l have said previously though, all of our officials, able or otherwise, without them there would be no organised football, so well done them or stepping up to the plate.

Totally understand all that ...

Nick was the assistant ... so probably didn't want to disagree with a more senior official who really should know better!

I like the board with the teams on, a missing D and the L looks like it’s from a different supplier. Charles (Charlie) Dickens playing for the home side along with a teammate called Kenny Pogue (good name).
I like the sticker perfectly placed by a Deal fan

Burgess Hill
I went to see Burgess Hill v Erith in the FA Cup on Saturday - just about the worst game of football I have seen for many years. Neither team could adjust to the stiff breeze - goal kicks, cross field passes and free kicks sailed out of play pretty much all afternoon. The absolute high point of the game was when the Red Arrows flew over on their way to Eastbourne, that and the ref blowing for full time. Dean Cox has his work cut out.

regarding the Worthing penalty that ended up as a free kick to the opponents
I think the only way you can get a freekick is if the player kicks the ball twice but not for encroachment
