So does this mean that there are now two clubs?

In theory, yes.

However, I’m not sure if the original Southwick will be able to get a full team together. After all, the entire first team left to form AFC Southwick, along with a lot of the coaches and some people associated with the youth teams. However that’s only what I’ve gathered based on knowing a couple of the players, one fleeting conversation & a few Facebook statuses.

The person to ask would be attila who has done some incredible work for the club.

Just got back from a sunny Woodside Road where Worthing beat Tonbridge Angels 4.1.
Danny Cashman, listed as a trialist on the team sheet, scored one of the goals. Cashman also featured on Tuesday evening for the Rebels in the away friendly at Baffins Milton Rovers.

That would be a brilliant signing for them if they pull it off. If I could find a bookies that had odds on their league I’d be lumping on them

Wow! I was one of those who thought Cashman was more likely tp step up rather than step out this season. No dis-respect to Worthing, but I'd've thought Cashman would be aiming higher than level - what is it? Level 7? Should tear up a few trees at level anyway, I suppose, so could be good news for Worthing.

Looks like Cashman is about to sign for Rochdale.

That’s a shame, but L2 certainly seems more his level.

Speaking of Worthing based disappointment, Bet365 are refusing to offer odds for the Isthmain League winners despite offering odds for other leagues at the exact same level. Really frustrating as I’d love to lump a few quid on ‘em.

Thought the highest league you could bet on was Conference south?

An opening two wins for Steyning Town, last night was 3-0 against Loxwood. The opening goal was a 25 yard volley from our new striker Josh Bradley. Signed last week from Loxwood .... bit tense. Loxwood looked a decent team - pressed well for periods - but Town created more chances and took some of them. Three up at half time - the second half descended into a bit of a scrap.

FA Cup on Saturday. Home to Pagham. 3pm ko.

Just seen the info about Southwick. Very sad played many games in County League against them. Dont know if true but there Wiki states original packed up with debts of £500k. Seems odd to be able to walk away from those kind of debts and restart with same players and management but a different name. Who was money owed to ?

My understanding is that it wasn't £500k debt, but that AWDC priced the fix up of Old Barn Way - which is falling apart - at that figure.

The 2nd board - of whom I'm not sure how many are left in this 3rd incarnation - figured they could do it for a fifth of that figure.

Crowborough for the second game running drew 2-2 last night and for the second game running they nicked a point in the last minute.

Saturday they should have been out of sight at half time but let Welling back into the game and only grabbed a point with a 30 yard free kick in the last minute.

Last night away to Bearsted they were second best for large spells of the game. Went 1-0 down after 4 minutes when it could have 3 or 4. But credit where it's due the goal woke them up a bit and the equaliser came a couple of minutes later. The rest of the game was a pretty scrappy affair and looked like it would end 1-1. Then there was an almighty balls up in the Crows defence and Bearsted took the lead with 5 to go. Going in to stoppage Crowborough were awarded a penalty for a foul which looked very much outside the box from where I was standing. Was dispatched and the game ended 2-2.

Money is already showing in the league after 2 games. Glebe have played 2 won 2 scored 9 conceded 0. Will be a three way shoot out between Glebe, Chatham and Sheppy I expect.

AFC Croydon in the cup at home on Saturday......can't decide whether to do that or the Albion friendly.

Albion KO is 7pm if that makes any difference.

I wasn't expecting Crowborough to be in the SCEFL - in with all the Kent teams. I wonder whether it makes any difference (easier/more difficult etc).

I spoke to a Beckenham Town fan (who play in the SCEFL) in their FA Cup with Mile Oak and I asked whether they were in a few leagues above and he said the quality is a lot higher in the SCEFL than the SCFL because they are able to get more players from the London Area from academies and such.

It potentially does actually, had it in my head it was 3pm.

It's been a bone of contention at the club......well since it happened really (7 or 8 years ago now). Every season the club have asked to be shifted back and every season they get told no. With the league restructuring they were very hopeful this year but it didn't happen. Yet AFC Croydon, Balham and Beckham were all allowed to shift to the combined counties. Jarvis Brook also compete in SCFL albeit a couple steps below so it doesn't really make any sense why we are there.

Travel wise.....lots of people at the club will tell you there is a lot more travelling involved and there probably is mileage wise but ease of getting to places there isn't a huge difference IMO as lots of the teams are on that A21/M25/A2 corridor. There is Deal away of course which last time we played there the league computer put it midweek.....thanks!

Has created a nice little rivalry with Tunbridge Wells who get very good crowds (400+ on Saturday) so that always makes for a nice pay day over the bar when they come over. Rusthall have also been promoted this season (and have a bit of money and have nicked a couple of our better players) so there are a couple of local games.

The standard of football is slightly higher I would say as you get the whole of the south east London as a catchment area.

The quality of pitches and facilities seems to be better as well but I may be out of touch with the sussex league as Uckfield (which has always been a cabbage patch) aside I've not been to many grounds in the last few years. The playing surface at Bearsted last night was superb.....just a shame both sides decided not to use it a lot.

Were in SCEFL. Moved this season to the combined counties. Had a nice local derby on Saturday as their first game.........against Jersey!

Decent setup at Becks as their ground was used by Millwall ladies so the playing surface was always blinding. Going back to my last post about ease of getting to games there is a train station next to the ground.

Always made quite welcome there as well which is more than can be said for Tunbridge Wells after a nasty affair a few seasons back which resulted in a 129 page case pack from the FA. The game the following season was made all ticket and was segregated. Never heard of anything like that at step 5.

Funny you say that as the most trouble I've experienced at non league was at a step 6 game of Golcar United v Shelley in the NWCFL div 1. Golcar took a lot of issue with the fact the Huddersfield University Non League Society (which I was a part of) had adopted Shelley as their team not Golcar. Got a lot of dodgy looks and people mouthing off at the away game at their place, and usually after the game their official twitter account used to call us virgins and say we played Football Manager alone in our rooms at night (not 100% false). Very strange how it can get so volatile at that level, when most of us were there for the massive piss up.

I’ve been able to bet on Worthing games in the past, tbf. However I’d totally understand them not offering odds on winning the league because of the level if it wasn’t for the fact they’ve got odds for every team in the southern central league (Peterborough Sports, Tamworth etc). Even messaged Bet365 asking if there would be a market at some point. I was instantly told no and that was the end of the conversation.

Weighing up which cup game to do pre Albion Saturday, either Bexhill playing at Hastings or Eastbourne Town.

What would the Sussex regular non-leaguers do?
