Am I correct in thinking if Worthing get promoted, it’s national league south they move up to ?
Novice at this level, but is their ground good enough, room for enlargement?
I’m just asking, so don’t think I’m being arrogant here.
Do you think our success in recent years, has helped local non league teams, be it ex players, coaching staff, youth players etc that don’t make the grade at our level, and growing attendance figures to disillusionment with some fans and EPL ?
Genuinely interested.

If they are going up to conference south their ground should be fine; though they might need to put some more seats in if they do have to do anything. Whitehawk were conference south 5 seasons ago and that ground is an utter dump (and I say that as someone that enjoys going to Whitehawk games occasionally).

They would go into NL South. Would only be an issue if they got into NL proper I think
Worthing seem to have a lot of exAlbion youngsters as a Hinshelwood either with them at one point. Not aware of that many at other teams, possibly the gap is larger now (is potential PL youngster has more clubs to drop down to before he gets to this level)

Regarding the increase in attendances at this level, disillusionment has probably played a part but I think the main thing is youngsters. Worthing have had a lot of youngsters coming to games for a while, but then they've been consistently winning and playing good football(normally a promotion would break this up) . We've certainly had a lot more youngsters watching at Lewes this season(again as we've started winning and playing good, passing football)
Interesting question and one that is very hard to answer! Got to be some benefit to the local teams from the local lads going through the Albion Academy and not making the step up to u18s from u16s.

Was talking to one of the Directors last week. The ground is almost fit for purpose for National League South. Away turnstile needed & segregation now in place. They are 39 seats short for the league so will be building a small stand opposite the main stand. Even if attendances stay the same (they will surely go up), Worthing will be one of the bigger clubs in the league. The aim is to get into the league eventually which will mean moving from Woodside Road in all probability

Quick check in from The Sportsfield today, where Littlehampton remain on course for the County League title after a hard fought 3-1 win against Lingfield this afternoon. Hard to avoid the feeling that everyone's mind is on the FA Vase 1/4 final next Saturday. Will be a big ask to win that one, based on current form and the non-availability of a certain J. Benn (who was in the crowd and wearing a sling today, so unlikely to feature next week).

The Vase would be very nice, but let's be honest here, wouldn't promotion to the Isthmian ranks be even sweeter?

Eventually is the operative word, don't get me wrong Worthing are doing very very well, but promotion to the Football League is a million miles away yet. Only two more promotions you may well say, but the National League is notoriously difficult to get out of.
Many much bigger teams with larger budgets have tried and failed over the years. It's nice to have dreams and be able to set targets, but a little realism is necessary too.

Absolutely. Saltean just won't go away in second place, and Newhaven not too far behind either, so we need to keep grinding out the results. The Vase will be a nice distraction, just hope it doesn't take too much focus away from the main prize of promotion. I suspect that North Shields will be too strong for us, but hopefully home advantage will level the playing field a little.

Liked Pope when he was at Lewes. Though I was always a bit confused when he took long throws to absolutely no one who could head a ball.Saw Hastings United go 10 points clear in Isthmian SE division with a comfortable 3 nil victory over Corinthian at the Pilot Field .
All 3 goals scored by ex Albion Trainee Ben Pope , attendance 1329 .

The only issue I can see there is where would Worthing move to, within the Borough?
And who would pay for the new stadium, as the current club owner, doesn’t own the ground, it’s owned by Worthing Sports and Social Ltd, which consists of 35 ‘golden share’ owners?

I asked the same questions. The main owner of the ground who is in his 90s has donated the land to a trust for the benefit of football. I understand that Woodside road could get to a capacity of 5,000 but the issue is with development outside of capacity which the locals may not agree with. They have sited the example of Dorking FC who moved to the outskirts of town in a new stadium & now looking at another possible move.
