Off to watch Leiston 5th Southern Premier Central v Harrow Borough 7th Southern Premier South this afternoon, should be a decent match up in FA Trophy

Just back from a Medway local derby - Chatham 7 Lordswood 1 - as the score suggests very one sided. Most surprising was the crowd of 900+ which is very respectable for this level.

Eastbourne's number 11, I think called Arron Hopkinson either scored or set up about 7 of their goals

Has Non-League benefited from Covid I wonder? At least, since the return to playing, as obviously Covid lockdowns will have adversely affected a lot of small clubs.
More space to spread out. Drink whilst watching the game.
I know someone who goes regularly to The Pilot Field and he says attendances are way up. Although new owner and success on the pitch will be a big factor there also.

Was there today, attendance of 1,003 for step 7 is excellent.
Didn’t help from conceding a 90th minute winner mind…

yes maybe
I know a lot of people my age (30's) go regularly to non league as its simply more affordable plus it's relaxed (being able to drink while watching the game, stand/sit where you want etc.)
attendances definitely seem higher across the board than say, 4 years ago

Just got home after a trip to Hayes and Yeading.
Excellent performance from Worthing and a deserved victory. Towering header from Racine just before half time and 2 early goals in the 2nd half - wonderful turn and finish from Golding and a lovely passing move finished by Cox - earns the Rebels £3000 and a place in the next round.
Strange ground, one very good stand which sadly is half finished as the money has run out. The other 3 sides of the ground are flat hardstanding with no cover or terracing. Excellent pitch though.
Crowd announced as 296 with probably half of them following Worthing.

I think you’re right - Non League has benefitted from Covid. I think there were periods in the last 18 months where you couldn’t go to a pro game but you could go to a Non League game. So I did, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it’s now a regular part of my life and a way of supporting the local community ( albeit in a small way).

Also just got back from the game about 15 minutes ago (via a detour through London for food with a few others). A trek and a half to get to the ground from Hayes station and, as you say, a strange stadium. Considering they play at the same step in the pyramid as Worthing, I was shocked at how amateurish the setup was. As you say, the stand being unfinished meant the bar had no toilets for those who arrived before the gates opened (with the only toilets in the ground being a few portaloos and a setup similar to the mobile ones you get at festivals), plus they closed the bar during the game because, and I quote "the barman wanted to watch the game"...which given they have ambitions to get back to National South is amateurish when compared to how well run the setup is at Woodside. I'd wager it was probably worse than almost all of the other Non-League grounds I've been to across the pyramid.
Given they have won 9 of their 10 league games so far this year, I was surprised at how unimpressive Hayes were on the field. Dajon and Jasper ran them ragged on the left flank, we scored three classy goals (unlucky not to have two more in the first half if not for the woodwork), the Withdean classic "We've got Tiny Cox" chant got a rare outing after Deano's goal, and the Away Boys atmosphere behind the goal was great as per usual. First away day of the season for me and missed that feeling of the big away day out, as half a dozen of us went up on the train early doors. Should be up at Hornchurch on Tuesday night all being well too.
