Only have to pass the physical test every 2 or 3 years. An officer can get really out of shape in that time.

There is an annual test. Not that there are many foot chases a desk based DS is going to be involved in anyway.

ok, so that desk based DS is asked to fill in for a DS that cant go on a raid arrest etc or is transferred to a non desk field role, what then ??
