Doctors up and down the country have warned us over the cuts imposed by the Tories over the last decade. Dominic Cummings, Johnson’s chief advisor, is on record as saying that the Tories don’t care about the NHS. We also have British Medical Association chairman, Dr Chaand Nagpaul, saying that the UK’s lack of ventilators was “a result of a decade of under-funding” and Britain’s “starting position has been far worse than many other European nations”, but I’m the one for politicising the NHS for pointing this out... god you must really want to bury your head in the sand as you are going to great lengths to defend your Tory overlords.

Those of us in the intensive care units right now are saying 'we need some more ventilators, let's get some more ventilators' and then we work alongside our operational managers and procurement specialists to get said ventilators.

We are conserving our energy for the things we actually NEED to do.

Blowing hot air about party politics is not going to get us the ventilators we need. My request to you is if you have nothing practical or useful to offer right now, like getting us some ventilators, then quit the hand wringing and wind your bloody neck in Citizen Smith.

In six months time we can have a national post mortem and figure out how it all went right.

Sorry, hadn’t realised posting ‘thoughts and prayers’ on a forum would be considered practical or useful. Promoting a discussion about how the NHS has been pared back so badly it was in near perpetual crisis before the virus even came along though... apparently not.

I’d welcome a National post-mortem after the event. However if the Leveson Inquiry, enquiries in to Grenfell and the Russia report are anything to go by, I won’t be holding my breath.

I’m a senior A&E nurse and would just like to say...

Just because there’s a deadly virus that will likely take a generation.

Just because everyday is filled with flimsy face masks, crappy PPE and folks coming in so hot that I can feel them from 2 feet.

Just because I’m certain to get it, I’m bordering on the high risk and look at my pregnant, single mum, immigrant and highly skilled colleagues with awe. If they can keep rocking up, taking blood, doing investigations and being supportive, caring and wise...how can I not?

My whole life has been in and around the NHS. It stands before all of you as a wall against this virus. It’s all we’ve got and we need you to throw your weight behind it too.

It’s all we have right now. It’s apolitical and ready. Underfunded, understaffed and under equipped as it is, I’d back it against any other healthcare provider in the western world.

Proud.

Good on you.

I have second hand experience of the great work you do through my partner. I think what you do and how you cope is a true example to us all.

All I can say is keep going.

The fact that it is a few people might possibly make you think that it could be you and not others - had you thought of that? No one quibbles with you in principle holding the government to account -the point, however, is whether what you come up is properly thought through and not just parroting someone else's statements with out questioning their agenda. By the way, thanks for the good wishes -despite our differences, I wish you and your colleagues also good health in these difficult times. I assume you are in for the next 2 weeks with kids of key workers??

I am currently in self isolation as I am showing symptoms. I fall in to the category of being vulnerable as I suffer from rather severe asthma. Our school will have roughly 200 pupils in on Monday but our SLT have yet to comment on how staff will be deployed. All being well I am due back from self isolation on Wednesday but our school may yet decide to ask staff with underlying health issues to work from home. We shall see. I wish you and yours well. It covers three patients and their care at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Crikey, it’s a tear jerker. The NHS staff are incredible, beyond being clinical professionals, they show heart felt compassion, empathy and are of course alll working their socks off. Total respect to them.

I mentioned the following in the GE campaign. We need to have a non petty party political conversation in this country, about raising income tax a few percent imho, to direct to frontline NHS services and infrastructure. NOT part disappearing into an ether of management levels and external management consultants.

I mentioned the following in the GE campaign. a slightly political post... we also need to look at how healthcare is delivered. the current structures with in the NHS are not efficient. we have areas with very large costs bases setup to serve all scenarios, look to other countries and integrate best practices.

There are so many people who are on the front line along with our wonderful NHS ,people at schools and nurseries big or small who are looking after the children of key workers, volunteers who are helping in their own time who dont even get paid, organisations like Samaritans and Mind looking after people who are vulnerable and probably at their lowest right now,welfare charities homeless charity workers food bank workers jeez I could go on and on.
I wish I could list them all but not possible.
All these people are crucial to our society especially now and are tirelessly working behind the scenes.

I for one am very proud of our country right now.

BBC2’s Hospital is on just now, focusing this week on cancer services at Alder Hey for kids, and adult services elsewhere in the trust.

Highly skilled NHS professionals giving people a chance of life, with a complex operation for a small infant.

Again, total respect.
