Ha ha ha... it took 8 days to get the CT scans St Richard’s took of my wife to our local hospital in Gillingham.
Is that because the TRUSTS are independent of each other so everything has been separated artificially. I worked for a very large telco which atone point had been separated into 28 units to sell off so data transfer between them was difficult. More latterly when it worked as one large unit the issue disappeared. Note I worked in IT in the database area , these scans are just data produced at the time of the scan and available on the system straight after the scan. The biggest issue is not the getting the imageit is getting the radiographer to report on it. There is a big shortage of these people and no plans to increase the numbers sufficiently.
Also, every time I visit a different hospital with our little boy, who has multiple problems, I have to go through the whole story of his diagnosis and symptoms - joined up and easy, no!
that is deliberate so that each specialist can assess the situation quickly just in case something is missing from the notes or something has changed. Tiresome but necessary.
I am getting a very close up picture of the NHS as my wife has been having chemo plus other things over the last 5 months . We need to improve the NHS not throw it to the wolves.
