What a beautiful name. When is Oisin gonna be officially presented to NSC.

Hope is improving on a daily basis.

i have left the camera with mrs starry, but she has taken 4987589427 pictures so i am sure she'll inundate you with them soon.

thanks on the name. we had tadhg and cuán in consideration as well, but oisín won out.

mrs starry would have named his bosco if she had had her way. i let her pick the other children's names but there was no one my son was sharing his name with this, i had to put my foot down.

Awww, how sweet! How's he doing now?

thanks! he's doing really great. just needs to get better with his feeding and weight gain, he doesn't have much of a suck reflex yet so he is fed by the tube.

but he is keeping his body temp stable and breathing well, so once he is feeding and gaining weight he can come home. hopefully before christmas.

That's really good to hear - i've read that very prem babies don't develop a suck reflex until later, but its good to hear his body temp is getting stable, and breathing is going well of course! He certainly looks well :) What weight is he now?

Glad to hear he should be back before christmas, that's such good news - i take it you're not getting much sleep! How's Sinead?

That is great. I really hope he puts enough weight on to get home soon. My daughter was 3 weeks premature and I had to leave her in the baby care unit for 10 days which was bad enough.

Very insensitive comments NMH, despite being an attempt at humour, considering Starry and Paddy have already lost a daughter to cancer.

Hi Laura.

Oisín was 3lb 8 when he was weighed yesterday so heading in the right direction. He is taking more and more feeds without the tube, once he has 48 hours of no tube fed and stable temperature he come home. They think maybe the end of the next week if he carries on as he has been.

I'm fine, thanks. Wish I could be in two places at once. Had to leave him for the first time tonight to come home and be with the others. I've been home since, but this is the first overnight. Romilly will not sleep through without me and Paddy is ready to make her sleep outside. lol

Hope your shoulder is better now.

Thanks everyone :)

What a fabulous little guy. Good to hear he is making good progress and doing all the things that he is supposed to be doing. Fingers crossed that he will be home soon.

Sinead you won't know yourself when you get him home - you will both be able to settle into the normal routines

Is Paddy getting relegated to the spare room again lol

Blimey just seen this thread and the picture of the little guy again and my you forget how small they can be! Mother nature gives us selective memories in order to keep us going through it!

Hope to hear the good news of his homecoming soon! and of Romillys sleeping better too...

(and a few pints to Paddy as well for hanging in there!)

That's good, he seems to be making real progress! I really hope for you guys that he's back next week - i bet it isnt easy having to be in and out of hospital at the moment. And i'm sure romilly will get used to it - just make paddy sleep outside!!

It's getting there, better than before!
