Thread over. I don't remember anyone having a problem with the change of colours and stylistic representation of the Union flag.

Complete non-story for a collar decoration on the rear of a football shirt.

The England badge is 3 lions, everything else on the national shirt is decoration. There was no St George's cross on the shirts in 1966, or most shirts since. Another excuse to ignite a culture war.
Why, in your opinion, was Starmer so quick off the blocks in asking to scrap the kit?

*buzzes* Because he was asked a leading question in an interview (on a broad range of topics)?
Was Thornberry caught 'off guard' similarly?

Were that the case, I'm sure he could have adopted a neutral stance rather than 'scrap it'.

Beat you to that one and it's for Team GB in the Olympics not England.

Then you’d have said he doesn’t have an answer. It was cheap journalism designed to drag certain types in. Nothing more.

it is worth stating, in capitals:

NO ONE HAS CHANGED THE f***ing FLAG!

God, what a bunch of morons we have in this country. Easily triggered, one might even say 'snowflake' morons as well. How did it come to this? When did the English become so stupid that they can mistake a design on a shirt for our national flag? I'd like to think it's only a tiny minority of Lee Anderson types but I'm not sure it is. It is really, genuinely, depressing. :(

Nike stated; “A playful update to the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 of St. George”.
What else could that mean?

Exactly. I can't believe how much crap this has generated, both here and elsewhere, but it is worth stating, in capitals:

I must be one of the easily triggered morons you speak of, but at least I served 31 years in HM Forces protecting British peoples‘ right to spout whatever utter cack they choose to.

The previous shirt had a miniature England flag on the back of the neck, this has been removed, presumably by some woke wally at the FA and replaced with some meaningless rectangle that most patriotic English people aren’t in favour of. These people include the Prime Minister and the Leader of The Opposition and numerous other distinguished and eloquent individuals from all elements of the political and social spectrum.

What’s genuinely depressing is the ability of so many people to succeed in starting a fight, on their own in a phone box. ☹️

There is no evidence that it is anything other than a design brain fade which has made the papers a lot of clicky advertising revenue in their comments section.

Now politicians, desperate for votes, are wading in.

It was a change that wasn't needed and was unnecessary. It's also costing me a lot in Pringles as all the outrage is worth sitting and viewing. Lee Anderson has said any more of this and he is on the first flight to Rwanda. So if you could just put up with one more silly design change (maybe an England tracksuit in rainbow colours) he can go and we can then put things back to how they were before.

Tbf I wouldn’t disagree with him going

It isn't a flag. It's a thing on a shirt. Like a poppy (remember that debacle?). It has only been on the shirt for 15 years or so and this is not the first 'interpretation' cross. We have had wavy crosses, and we have had Chevrolet badge shaped ones (I have one like that. Lovely, it is).

Don't be triggered by oaves like Anderson and Farrage. You're better than that

I’m not being triggered but them idiots. I am allowed to have an opinion that isn’t my usual
Left if centre type.
