Exactly. I can't believe how much crap this has generated, both here and elsewhere, but it is worth stating, in capitals:

NO ONE HAS CHANGED THE f***ing FLAG!

God, what a bunch of morons we have in this country. Easily triggered, one might even say 'snowflake' morons as well. How did it come to this? When did the English become so stupid that they can mistake a design on a shirt for our national flag? I'd like to think it's only a tiny minority of Lee Anderson types but I'm not sure it is. It is really, genuinely, depressing. :(
Apparently the Germans are up in arms about a football kit now. It's all very queer

Shilton was apparently one of our best ever keepers but the thing is I cannot remember a single save he ever made.
There was one against Pele. Oh.... hang on. That was Banks.

No, as you were :lolol:

Anyway, the away shirt is LUSH.

Agree.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the cross. It's a bit too Christianly for me.

But for the sake of inclusivity I'm prepared to give it a go.

Brighton factually.....
The FA has defended the St George's Cross design on its new England kit, saying "it is not the first time" different colours have been used.
The body said it understood what the St George's flag "means to our fans" and the latest design was a.......
"tribute to the 1966 World Cup winning team".
How exactly ??

Not that it bothers me, but how exactly is changing the colour a tribute ?

Sounds like the FA caught in the headlights and someone on 120k a year suggesting mention the 1966 winning team, the Brexit crowd love that.

It is silly, and shouldn't have been done. But it is SO worth it for all the outrage from the Portsmouth Colins and MPs trying to get votes. Labour, of course, will have to slightly alter their position as it is the same as the Tories at present.

Had a flick through the news channels earlier. BBC and Sky were covering the Gaza ceasefire UN thing. GB News? Of course the shirt. And, unironically, the guy said something about getting away from the BBC and the Guardian and going into a Wetherspoons and then you would find how angry people were.

I agree, the Union Flag/Jack is sometimes represented in different colours and I have no problem using say, a beach towel, or a T-shirt that has this.

However those things are not being worn by someone representing their country, and this shirt is supposed to be the players replica shirt, hence the higher price.

So yes it's now just a weird cross on the collar and nothing to do with St George or England.....but it should be.
What about the British kit for the 2012 Olympics?

Thread over. I don't remember anyone having a problem with the change of colours and stylistic representation of the Union flag.

Complete non-story for a collar decoration on the rear of a football shirt.

The England badge is 3 lions, everything else on the national shirt is decoration. There was no St George's cross on the shirts in 1966, or most shirts since. Another excuse to ignite a culture war.
