May I respectfully remind you that republics have national anthems? This thread is mainly about the musical merits of national anthems, isn't it?
I'm a republican and dont believe in a skygod, so dont sing the national anthem, but recognise it as a reasonably stirring bit of music (ditto Jerusalem, to which the answers to the questions posed are: no, no, no and no).
