[Will always remember visiting HaQUOTE=Cheshire Cat;10070696]Berwick Rangers ground in the late 1980s was a bit spartan.

And The Shay at Halifax is the only ground I have been able to lounge on the grass, while watching the football from somewhere near the driving range (golf balls).[/QUOTE]

Talking of Halifax, will always remember an away day to the Shay back in the 1990's and visiting a fish & chip shop near the ground pre match. When asking what fish they had on offer l was told . . . just fish, it's all called fish.

What were you driving the last time we played there? a Morris Marina? Mark 1 Ford Cortina perhaps?

I wasn't driving anything, except possibly my Mum around the bend. If I've got the dates right she'll have been driving a Renault 19 at the time.

What a machine.

A very fine machine indeed, have owned many French cars over the years, Citroen's and Peugeots aplenty, but never a Renault as far as l can remember.

Anyway that has nothing at all to do with the original subject of the thread whatever that was, can't remember now.

Absolutely nothing at all to do with it :lolol:

I've been to the old White Hart Lane but not the new one. I don't think I've been to any other grounds that are no longer there. The closest would be a visit to the County Ground in Northampton a few years ago to watch Sussex after the football left. Sussex took one wicket in the time I was there and I missed it talking to the lad behind the bar about how he had no interest whatsoever in cricket.

I reckon I must have been to 92 league grounds, but not to the grounds of 92 different league clubs. Either through the clubs dropping out of the league or moving to new grounds, I think I've lost 36: The Dell, The old Den, Underhill, Upton Park (nobody ever called it the Boleyn Ground until around 2000), whatever Kingstonian's ground is called now, Highbury, Griffin Park, White Hart Lane, The Manor, Elm Park, Layer Road, Boothferry Park, Highfield Road, Gay Meadow, the Baseball Ground, Burnden Park, the Racecourse, Filbert Street, Roker, Feethams, Maine Road, Edgeley Park, the Deva, Ninian Park, the Vetch, Belle Vue, Millmoor, the Don Valley Stadium, Plainmoor, Meadow Lane, Blundell Park, Saltergate, Victoria Road, the Victoria Ground, Roots Hall, the Recreation Ground.

Nice list, presume you can add Edgar Street to it?

The County Ground at Northampton was an interesting football/cricket ground. I haven't seen the Albion there but I did go to see a match (when I was ticking off grounds) and where the football pitch ran into the cricket pitch they had erected a small wooden stand which was only three rows high down one of the wings. The rest of the ground was a proper football stadium with concrete terracing and a large stand with a roof behind one of the goals.

Didn't George Best score 6 there once ?

That wooden structure down one side was just a three-step terrace (no-one sat down there) that was easily removable. The football and cricket seasons still overlapped but only by about three weeks in August in those days. I saw us lose 8-0 there one night!
On a similar vein, Bramhall Lane was the same as a shared ground but they had just built the new stand on the cricket pitch by the time we got back there in 78.

From what i remember when going to the cup game in 87/8 was a mini terrace on our right where some Brighton fans were ( we were behind the goal with plenty of room so not sure why they were their.) Then a mini stand for seats and a terrace behind the goal for the home fans with a roof. Being a 16/7/8 year old at the time i found it odd there was a cricket ground next door. Still makes me smile when Northampton invaded the pitch and 4/5 stewards held them back from us.
