1000 Euros for England vs Spain in Berlin in July (face value) but bear in mind a comparable ticket at Wembley three years before against Italy was 886 euros, so it hadn't gone up that much.
$1,000 for Hatton vs Mayweather in Vegas December 2007 (again face value)
I bought a rare 1970's Subbuteo team, Fluminese, on ebay for £390.
And I gave £1,000 for a Tommy Wright England match worn shirt, vs Brazil 1969 in the Maracana, although Tommy did put it on a hot wash on his return from South America.

But it all pails in to insignificance as to what my Daughter's wedding is costing me in Spain next weekend:lolol:

The cost of weddings is insane. And exploitative. But what can you do?

It's my big B'day coming up. My two daughters (one coming back from Oz to visit) asked what I wanted to do. I said I'd like them and Mrs Rat to come with me to Deauville for a day at the races (not a fan of racing but at Deauville it's a great experience), stay a couple of nights at a nice hotel, visit the casino, eat well etc. Unfortunately my younger daughter is only here for 10 days, has to see her Mum (ex Mrs Rat), friends etc. So can we do something requiring a little less time.

So they suggested "How about a weekend and football game"?

I gave up our ST's this year because of health nonsense. So yeah, I'll do that, and lets do it a bit special. It's the Ipswich game. "Oh well if it's just football (daughter #1) then Ben (hubby) can come". "Oh and I'm now bring b/f from Oz with me he can come. too" Stepson in Sweden calls and says "Me and Mrs would like to come and celebrate your big b'day too"

They leave it with me to organise and of course "we'll pay for you too" (from a bunch of broke/semi broke 20 somethings).

So I've now got the 8 tickets, BHA v Ipsw and I haven't got £2,160 (I hope the food's good!)

I’ve done stuff, been to gigs, matches, sporting events etc. but if I’ve paid silly money the alcohol has erased it from memory.

Of the top of my head the only time I’ve paid three figures (and then it was only just) for an event was when the Mrs bought a ticket in the Athens end or for a Stone Roses ticket at The Etihad

2 grand for England Italy Euro 2020.

$1500 x 2 tickets for Mayweather v pacman in Vegas. Which was actually near enough face value.

I would never pay anything over 100 quid for an EPL ticket I see no appeal to being in any corporate area for EPL and I'm offered free tickets to arsenal and spurs in corporate all the time which I reject.

I still pinch myself that away tickets are 30 quid.

Agree re away tickets…….talking to my Argyle-supporting mate, he had to pay nearly £40 away in the championship (TBF it was the champions of Europe). Didn’t realise they scraped the £20 cap.

£89 for Pulp at Finsbury Park. Blanched a little at the time but it was worth every penny.

I'd have been prepared to go up to £150 for Oasis but no more. But I was busy on Saturday anyway so it never really got to the existential stage.

About £940 for two ACDC hospitality tickets at Wembley a couple of months ago. A one off (thanks to the credit card), as my wife really wanted to see them. It was a v good night and i can't speak highly enough of Wembley and the VIP experience.

I paid a lot for a nice seat at the u2 Joshua Tree re-run a few years ago. Needed a seat as I was heading to a festival the next day and had to conserve energy.

Fine dining can be expensive as well, I’m just two shy of completing all the Berlin starred restaurants and the last one will most likely be the most expensive meal I have ever had as it’s quite pricey.

Don't do it! It's sheer luinacy.

If you've gt it spare, by all means spend it/waste it.

If my son wants a few bob towards a deposit on a flat someday I'll do what I can to help, but spaffing it on an over priced party is not something I'm investing in.

I did £1500 on a race entry 11 years ago . . . . It was 3 races and one at night at Spa Francorchamps. Expensive but seemed worth it.

by the time my co driver had wrecked 2 gearboxes and grenaded my engine I was nearly £10k down.

I fixed it all and headed to Goodwood 3 months later, only for another co driver to smash it up.

I kind of lost a bit of enthusiasm after 2013.

I paid $1000 for a pair of tickets to see Springsteen on Broadway. We were in New York for my 50th and having tried unsuccessfully all avenues to get tickets as the entire season was sold out was told to try the box office on the day for any returns. Luckily bagged 2 box seats not 20 feet from the Boss on the stage (turns out they were his unused guest tickets for that show).
Unforgettable experience worth every penny

About £400 for Led Zeppelin at the O2 in 2007, money went to a good cause though, REMF.

Similar amount for 2 x VIP tickets for Kerry Mayos testimonial in 2007. Worth every penny as I got to meet and make friends with people I would not have met otherwise, including a number of Albion players who I will always see as legends, and to this day I stay in touch with.
