What? Music is about opinions but this is an incredible album perfectly balancing accessibility and experimentation which continues to inspire to this day.

I. My most disappointing buy would be " yes sir I will" by crass, almost unlistenable.

Well bugger me, middle class suburban boy that I am I never expected to be discussing this, forgot all about this album, if I can cast my mind back 30 odd years I might remember an opinion, a slightly different style was outed when Sheep Farming In The Falklands came out in a glossy sleeve! Yes I certainly enjoyed Feeding The 5000 but some lads that put me on to it didn't share my enthusiasm for my light blue Sergio Taccini track top, them days eh?

Bowie appears a few times on this thread.

I was obsessed with his music in the seventies, and still am today, really. When Let's Dance came out, I tried to convince myself that it was basically okay - there were some good songs on it - and that the next would be better. But no - everything that came after was a major disappointment. Incredible that someone so above the ordinary could lose it quite so badly, throughout the eighties and nineties.

Then, a couple of years ago, he released The Next Day. Excellent album.

What happened?

Pink Floyd did some proper w@nk albums

Ummagumma (? ? ??) and a good chunk of Atom Heart Mother (i.e. Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast....give me strength ) stand out as particularly rubbish.

After waiting FOREVER for the Prodigy to follow up the SEMINAL Fat of the Land I was pleased as punch when Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned came out. Until I listened to it.

Be Here Now has been mentioned several times, and I can't argue with that. Definitely Maybe is an absolute STONKER, then (What's the Story) Morning Glory had true mass appeal before that utter dirge was released and they never hit the heights again.

The Beta Band were never able to come close to The Three Eps with both Hot Shots II and Heroes to Zeros distinctly average, whereafter they gave up and split up.

Lou Reed and Metallica - Lulu

An album seemingly only made to troll the respective artists fan bases.

'I am the table.'

(Though I must admit I have some residual affection for the sheer lunacy of the whole idea.)

To be more accurate they never hit the heights of the Champion Versions EP, ever again. In fact the very first song they ever released was far and away the best thing they ever did. Still we got Steve Mason's rather excellent solo work, and some pretty decent music from the Aliens too.

Surprised no one has mentioned The Stone Roses, Second Coming. I am not fan of either album but the build up to that album was huge and it is a really awful album, imo.

The Top by The Cure. Not entirely unexpected that it was crap, but utter crap it was.

Agreed. Another example of coke and booze not being the creative powerhouse that some claim it to be.

Possibly the worst of the 13 studio albums, one with the last couple.

I've not heard the last 2 - doesn't sound like I have missed much.

As much as I love Fat Bob his creative juices have run dry. Last saw him headline at the Leeds festival a couple of years ago and they can still put together a great set over 2 1/2 hours.
