As an aside I realise that all my friends are Brighton fans, bar the one Leeds fan, who is as I described. I think it's because I struggle hugely with anyone that is on the wrong side. I also have no friends that don't like football. I don't understand it. Can't contemplate them.

I used to work with a Charlton fan who raved about their wonder signing in 2007, and since he ran the fantasy football in the office, we all spent a year playing in a league called 'Chris Dickson for England'. At the beginning of the next season we played them in a friendly at Withdean and he came to the match with me.

As the teams were warming up, I was disappointed to see that Chris Dickson was on the bench and asked him which player was Dickson. He said he couldn't be sure, so I asked, whether he was black or white to see if I could narrow it down a little. He then admitted he didn't know as Dickson hadn't quite lived up to his hype of a year previous and he hadn't seen him play :lolol:

For reference : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Dickson_(footballer)

I know a few people who have a passing interest in football who used to support Manchester United , they now seem to support the Albion.

I had a chat with our window cleaner, who is a Brentford fan, yesterday. He said "I've got a feeling we're gonna do it". "Do what?" ….. "Automatic. Mate. Just need eight wins on the bounce and we will be there. You watch. Starting with West Brom on Friday".

He's a lovely bloke and his people do a great job of our windows, he's well past cleaning winders himself, but this thread does seem very timely.

Guess we will find out today, but he may have made one helluva prediction.

I would have struggled to answer the OP until as it happens Saturday!. I have two old work colleagues that I maintain contact with, occasional beer, meal out kind of thing. Both of whom are Arsenal fans. They remain convinced that Maupay and Bissouma should have been sent off, and for some reason Brighton are the worst, most dirty playing club on the planet, who dont deserve to be in the Premier League. Here are just a couple of the whatsapp messages they sent.

He did that because the cheating ******** dived end of argument brighton will now be knowns as cheats, dirty tricks end of the day we are a farrrr better aide than little old Brighton we was all over you we had a goal disallowed and we should of won, but all the little fickle brighton fans who think because they beat arsenal twice and have only ( and I'm add ) only been in the league 2 years will run there months your only one the leauge to make up the numbers

[: Cheating Dirty flowing Brighton we should of won that hands down
Hope Brighton get relegated then I shall laugh and laugh

Why is Bissouma not on a yellow or off? Consistent fouling all match.

well you get the idea. They seem to have convinced themseves that Arsenal would be Champions league if it werent for our dirty tricks!

However many weeks later and they're STILL banging on about that shizz? Jeez :wanker:

No that was a while ago. They've had plenty more embarrassing defeats to moan about since then.

:facepalm: I'm an idiot! Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't over it :lolol:

Whilst that was from the day of the match, and they have been reasonably complimentary since, as soon as they lost yesterday it was more of the same, about how shite Maupay was, how we were definitley going to be relegated next year etc. I just said thanks for the six points and that we looked forward to playing them again next year

The dull part of the south coast
Travelling back to Brighton on the train after beating Borough at home, two of their fans decided to sing "Brightons' a shithole, I wanna go home" - you could not make that up

I presume you’re referring to Middlesbrough? The last time we beat Boro at home was February 1990! They have been our biggest bogey team at home for years - in fact we’ve played them 8 times since then and only drawn or lost. We have won a couple of times at their gaff though. Sorry to steal your thunder. :drink:

Unless of course you were referring to the Riverside as home?

I met a Norwich fan once who assured me they were one of the biggest clubs in the country. For some reasons he went to great lengths to point out how much bigger they were than Newcastle and how their support was better than Newcastle. I had no real feelings towards either team the time but its pretty obvious to anyone that Newcastle are way bigger. The whole thing was just bizarre. I kind of dislike Norwich now because of that guy. Or least enjoy at thinking about his reaction when they loose to "smaller" teams.

Did you count the fingers?

Had the bad luck of fishing next to a chesterfield fan prior to the year they got docked points. Telling me how they would sweep the floor with all and sundry because of the wise investment by some merchant bankers(book cookers)

I think Leeds fans are as deluded as they get. The memories of past glories with Norman Hunter, Trevor Cherry and Jack Charlton have merely fuelled the rampant optimism of their promotion season.

It's like the last 16 years haven't happened, no humility has been learned - we can see this with the literal trashing of their city centre last week.

With Bielsa they think they are invincible or - at the very least - Wolves. Yet Ben White, Jack Harrison, Helder Costa are all loan players, while Pablo Hernandez is 36 next birthday and top scorer Patrick Bamford has scored a Solanke-esque 1 Premier League goal in 27 appearances.

He's probably referring to 1990. Brighton was still a great place to live then and Middlesbrough was still a shîthole.

reverse delusion, a Chelsea fan who was pathologically negative about them, even when they won the league. Drogba was a cart horse, Lampard was lazy, and so on very tedious.

My Dad’s like that about Brighton! You would think we’re back to the bottom of league two the way he talks about us!

No player or manager we have will ever be able to match up to the guys of the late 70’s and early 80’s in his head. Dunk and Zamora not even close to comparable to Lawrenson and Ward etc in his head. So boring, I almost refuse to talk to him after we’ve lost!
