I thought it was fantastic. The only thing that would have made it better was if they played the last post for the clueless Finn at the end of the game!
Nonsense. I got the 1.40 from Brighton to the ground so was walking up towards the club shop about 1.55. The "idiot" was helping to sell poppies. Were you?

Personal choice I suppose. As an ex servicemen I have no problem with anyone who chooses not to.
I thought the club did us proud; definite lump in the throat moment during the silence, remembering mates I've lost.

I noticed that and also McLean of Wigan didnt last night. His reasoning was that he was Irish and remembers Bloody Sunday and it would have been disrespectful to wear it.

On the away concourse at the end of the game loads of Blackburn fans complimented Bha,they said that we are the best club for the way we honour rememberance day.

The remembrance of the fallen was very well observed by all but watching the FL show I did notice that most Championship clubs had a military presence. dont understand why it always the Army not Navy or RAF, but what did we have The Salvation Army at probably little or no cost to the club. Whist not wishing to knock the club it is indicative of our club at the moment everything as cheap as possible.

I think the Forces would have done it for free. As probably the Sally Army did. Maybe getting hold of Forces buglers around Remembrance time is difficult, hence the Sally Army.

Agree with the OP, and to think how many younger fans/children took part too, many not really understanding.
Before the silence, I explained to my 4 year old son what it was for and was so proud that he observed it too. How many others used that as a point as to explain to a younger attendee what the silence was for?

As I explained it was not a knock at the club but I do think the club could have perhaps provided an escort of serving personnel to lead the players out or similar. Not a big thing but it is the little things that have helped keep the good name of this club.

How many times I am not knocking the club I just think the format should have been 12 serving personnel to represent the present who until very recently were still in action, followed by the British Legion standard bearers representing the past fallen and then the buglers or in this case trumpeters.
As an after thought I am sure that there is probably a fan who is or was a bugler in the services or cadets to play the Last Post I know my uncle did it for years at Worthing when in the Sea Cadets TS Vanguard and after leaving the Royal Navy.

Why the implication that a Salvation Army bugler has less of a standing at a remembrance service than one from the armed forces. The Salvation Army have supported our men and women in conflicts from the Boer War to present day.

As I have said on here many times an escort of serving personnel gives recognition to those serving at the moment, many of them local and Brighton supporters, who until very recently were involved in active service in Afghanistan. I am not degrading the Sally Army trumpeters just trying to promote our serving soldiers, sailors and airmen.

Do you think the Armed Forces go round sending people a hefty bill for their services when it comes to remembering the thousands and thousands of their own dead men (and women)??
Jeez, perhaps the Salvation Army volunteered their services, are known for their skills and great professionalism and had their offer delightedly accepted by the club. I imagine there is a strong demand for military musicians on this particular weekend so it may also be a question of who is available. I thought they were excellent.
Only you could turn a sobering and poignant performance on a day of remembrance into an unkind and unpleasant dig at the club about money (and of course it was a dig, however much you choose to deny it. What else could it be?). Way to go, BG. Way to go.
