Who can remember the awful Meccano stand, next to the North Stand?
Surely the worst stand ever? No mentions of Withdean allowed.

You mean next to the West stand at the Goldstone? Never had the pleasure of siting in it, but with all those staunchions for the roof, I would guess the view was naff. I think it lasted for about six seasons? Can't remember why it was taken down though...

It wasn't taken down - it fell down (well all but).

Bits few off it when the wind got up and eventually the council (pesumably) faled its safety certificate

Anyone remember when it disappeared.

Mid eighties?

Planning permission for the "Lego Stand"
was granted for only 5 years.I would assume that ,following relegation to the 2nd Div.,the club decided that the extra seats weren't needed ,and didn't bother to renew the planning permission

Well, what I would give to have that stand at Withdean.

I remember a match report in the Telegraph (I think?) that included the immortal words " Brighton's new stand had more poles than Warsaw"
