I read the book before watching film... gave me all the techie detail the film didn't need... both excellent.

Directed by Ridley Scott so bound to be a half decent picture.

The only drawback is that like all sci-fi it always looks better on the big screen rather than at home

I saw it at home and was underwhelmed. I like Damon in a lot of movies, and Scott is an excellent film maker, but it lacked tension for me.

That's a fair point, but probably the only 'mis fact' in the film,per se, as you well know that a 100 mph wind on mars would equate to a 7 mph gust on Earth.

The author himself says that he needed to get things started............

On a similar note there's a very entertaining commentary track for 'Sunshine' where a pre T.V. fame Brian Cox discusses his role as scientific adviser to the story/ production.
