It would be called a loan with a view to a permanent signing , its just a way of buying when the window is shut .To be honest i would be against paying more than £1million for an unproven lower league player ,Charlie Austin is one such case, cost way to much and will struggle a league higher.

Abort, retry, fail
I've heard Bennett is off to Norwich on loan. We decided to risk our most valuable asset by giving him to Norwich for free for the rest of the season. When I say free, in return, we are borrowing a Barbara, a Norwich PA, to deal with the extra work created with the season ticket sales. Apparently having an extra digit on each hand does not hinder but increases her wpm.

Utterly clueless - how is he unproven? He's very proven in my eyes and also has stated how much he loves it here and wants to stay here (almost regretting his little mishap request'. Anyways you obviously know more than Benno himself cos my mate was speaking to him Sat and he's said he's gonna work his socks off to get us promotion now to repay our loyal fans... Of course you know more than Benno himself tho Mr Norwich keyboard warrior.

as ncfc1 says he could go on loan witha view to permanantly but after turning down a bid of £1m during the window it will have to be a lot more to change TBs mind. Would they pay sufficient so that we clear £1m+ after the % sell on to Wolves. Perhaps the whole £2m is earmarked for him.

Would it have to be so much more ? Poyet himself said it came very close to being a done deal . As for proven Sheebo yes he may be at league 1 level but untill he plays at a higher level against better defenders who can tell . Another example Simeon Jackson lethal at league 1 level and worse than useless a league higher , never take anything for granted.

I knew what you meant i was making the point that Benno is pretty proven... And I believe he played well against Pompey from memory etc - he would / will cut it in the Champs...

Grant Holt was a league 2 striker before you poac.. i mean bought him too wasn't he? Anyways forget it he's not for sale. If we don't go up yes he may join you but may stay for the stadium (a lot better than most Championship stadiums). If we do go up he will be tearing your lot a new arsehole in the Champs next yr

The only worry is that at the moment it has not been reported that he has withdrawn his transfer request, although he has apparently told people he wants to stay here and win promotion with us and then possibly we will overtake Norwich next season. It is most obvious that neither TB or Gus will be content to just make up the numbers in The Championship.

Well one of the City directors has put £2 million into Lamberts player fund today and we all know who is top of Lamberts list .

Why wait till the transfer window closes? Delia on the wine again?

Grant Holt is a weird one i was sure he would not cut it in the Championship , fat , slow and awkward looking yet he is the only one of our strikers performing at all , god knows where we would be without him . Yes i think we will be meeting next season , just cannot see us going up to many clubs spending silly money and we basically have a squad of league 1 players that are playing out of their skins .

I believe they did have the money in January but have only just told the world so to speak , the statement read the money was all to go to Lamberts player fund for him to use in January , when the loan window re-opens or in the summer . Imo they should of spent the lot strengthening before the window shut but Lambert wasted the last two weeks chasing one player who he ended up missing out on .

I sometimes wonder which part of JUST GO BACK TO WHERE YOU BELONG some people fail to understand but I swear Norwich have more trolls than even the south coast club

Lua Lua .....but with Noone and Bennett ? Ledesma maybe, with Smith out and i just cant get excited with Baz and Batti . Against Orient with Kish unavailable i felt the bench looked very light of attacking midfielders .

All 3 playing behind Murray with Bennett central and both flying wingers. We also get to keep playing 2 of our excellent CMs at a time and see the full backs push on Brazil style 4-2-3-1

why Oh why would we loan/sell one of our best players to a club that if we kept him we would be playing next season and collect 4m on the way and if he has a good season next Norwich will never have enough money to buy his boots let alone have him for themselves
we don't need to sell him
he likes it at the Albion
he is and will become a great player if left to go at his pace
so anyone who wants to invest in him ....5m.... or on yer bike

Presumably this nonsense came about because someone posted a thread on a Norwich messageboard about a loan deal which started with the disclaimer "this is just pure speculation with no inside information behind it....."

Why on earth would a club insist a player isn't for sale, the said player accept that for the time being he isn't for sale (in public) and then trot off down to Norwich on loan ?

Poyet himself said it came very close to being a done deal.

He said nothing of the sort. He was worried about the player leaving and as a ex-player at the highest level himself, understood that Norwich were willing to offer Bennett something attractive. However our chairman was having none of it.

Yes, I'd imagine it was somewhat difficult for Brighton not wanting to take the risk of p*ssing off a player. But luckily for us, rather than throw his toys out of the pram Bennett appears to have accepted his short term future (at least) is with Brighton - "Not really a transfer request, now the window has shut.." are his words.

I'm sorry your club buggered up the transfer window chasing a player they were never going to get, but it's really time to get over it.
