The Edukators is a quality German film as well. Daniel Bruhl of Goodbye Lenin is also in it.

The Lives Of Others is, quite simply, my favourite film of all time. It gets to me every single time I watch it and there isn't one word of dialogue, not one acting performance, nor one frame shot, nor one note of an incredible score that simply isn't perfect. The fact that Ulrich Muhe, whose own life echoed events in the film so weirdly closely, succumbed to cancer so soon after having received so much praise for his role in it - just unimaginably tragic (even MORE so than the equally-gifted Jade Goody). f*** it, I'm going to watch it again for about the 20th time at the weekend.It was me.
A fantastic film. I, too, need to watch Downfall.
I've been trawling around wondering what Florian von Donnersmark is going to do next - there's almost an argument that he should retire and not try to top it. Anyone know?
I'd really recommend the Miracle Of Bern too. Best football film ever made, not that that's saying much.

Wings of Desire is quality. The only other film of his I've seen is the road journey one...little girl looking for her mother..features the brilliant Wuppertal suspended train (I cant be arsed to google the name). Quite old but a great film and nice scenery. I will make the trek to Wuppertal and ride that train one day.
Still a big fan of Danish flick, FESTEN, Colin? Did I tell you I went to see the play of that film in the West End a few years back? Twas superb, but not as good as the film.
