Yes. Forthcoming gigs.

I am very new to Black Keys. I read an interview related to their current album, found them interesting, and noted their turn around in commercial success coincided with DangerMouse getting involved. I have a lot of time for him. I went and bought El Camino off the back of this and really liked it. It's very commercial and very different-rock styles-by-numbers but it puts a skip in my step. I've yet to buy anything else but they have an interesting looking, and varied, back catalogue I want to explore.

I noticed they're doing a show here on a Friday, close to where I work, and over the road from my favourite beer and food joint. No brainer really.

Their earlier stuff is much rawer, rockier, bluesier, but all v good in my opinion. I've seen them a couple of times, and they're great live, although the last time was a week before my son was born, seven years ago. It seems to have rubbed off because they're just about his favourite band.

Bringing your son up on Black Keys deserves some sort of parenting award.

They also have a blues cover album I'm intrigued to hear.

Just been announced Jon Hopkins is playing in two weeks time. With a fella called Nils Frahm who sounds right up my Strasse.

In fevered anticipation of Wednesday night, The Coopers Cask in Farm Road, Hove will become a 'Throwing Muses' only pub from 9 pm tonight. Starting with the quite frankly magnificent 'Purgatory/Paradise', followed by a selection of back catalogue. I'll even buy a pint for the first 5 people who come in and and request a Throwing Muses song.

Still not quite sure whether to go and see them at The Concorde, or not

So it's The Fall tonight then. I'd reccomend getting there for The Sticks, always had a big soft spot for them. Catchy garage pop gems played by a band trying to give the impression they don't know what they're doing but clearly do.

Went to Kate Bush last night, absolutely spectacular. Lived up to every bit of the hype and worth every penny of the small fortune it cost to get a ticket.

Busy few weeks coming up with Lonely the Brave/Marmozets, The Phantom band, King Creosote, Sea Shepherd all dayer, Chris TT and the levellers coming up. Also travelling to london for Rise Against and Mastodon in November.

Thanks for recommendation. May make it in time.

excited? not 'arf

So did you enjoy them then? I thought they were great, and had forgotten how good Tanyas voice was. Quite emotional seeing them together again. P1010010.JPG

Simple Minds are at Brighton Dome next April. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning with the Dome directly, but the usual agencies e.g. SEE must have legitimately pre-bought up large blocks, because they're already selling tickets at double the Dome price.

We going to try the Dome first thing tomorrow morning.

Going by some Simple Minds cameos this summer on TV, they're still very good.
