Agreed. Haven't really managed to get into their last two releases.

From what I've seen they can be a bit shoddy live. Didn't their Nazi bass player leave as well? Decisions, decisions.

Carlos left which makes me further doubt their abilility to deliver the goods again. I remain completely unconvinced about Paul Banks solo efforts.

Like you, am very fond of the East India Youth album. I also got the new album from another that you recommended, Actress, which is also excellent.
Managed to miss out on tickets for EIY. I went in to Resident and they only had one left, and I wanted at least two.

I'm glad you are getting on with the Actress album. It's divided critical opinion and understandably so, it's hard work even for an artist who has never been easy.

Sorry to hear about EIY, I wasn't aware it had sold out, it's going to be mega busy in there Friday night...

I would have been there if the tour was making its normal stop off in Brighton but Interpol long ago ceased to be a band worth travelling for for me. TOTBL remains one of my favourite albums of all time though.

I have only seeen Interpol play once many years ago. They were due to play the freebut and when we arrived it was all shut up and a piece of paper was stuck to the door telling everyone to head over to the other side of town where they would be appearing at Hove Market Place. Made it just in time to see them play- I think it was before the first album was out- very early days.

Incidently thanks for the link to your latest show- was looking out for it!

I bet they were brilliant weren't they.

Incidentally for anyone going, the London Grammar show this evening has been postponed.

Yes it was good but can't remember exactly when it was in their career. Not seen them again but would have got a ticket if the nme tour came to Bighton.

I'll declare an interest in that a mate of mine is in this band, but if you're at a loose end and like early Stooges, then well worth catching Les Stoogers on Saturday 8th February at The Horse and Groom in Islingwood Road. I saw them at the Green Door a couple of weeks ago and got to say they were excellent and I'm not a huge Stooges fan.

And Stephen O' Malley of Sunn fame plays there in April - same promoter, the massively reliable Tatty Seaside Town.

East India Youth tonight, I haven't been as excited about seeing a new artist on their way up for quite some time. Completely and utterly sold out, our website can't even get a photographer in.

Off to see blues rock axeman Larry Miller at the Ropetackle tonight. He always puts on a great show.

I saw him as support last year- I think with British Sea Power. Ashamed to say that I virtually ignored him and went off to the Conqueror for more beer. Not the first time I have missed a support who have turned out to be huge. Enjoy and hope for a review later.

You weren't the only one to be unimpressed that night a good Albion supporting pal of mine reported that he didn't get on with his voice. From reading reviews of the tour so far he's only playing 2 vocally driven songs.... we'll see.

I really enjoyed it. Very surprised at how well it worked live. He put in quite the performance. Listening to the vinyl right now. It was an excellent show.

I'm on track 4 at the mo, though not on vinyl. Glad the gig went well. I gather Young Fathers, who are playing GDS on Monday, are good. Do you, or Spring, have any thoughts?

Who just caught that East India Youth gig then? Outrageously good. Exceeded my bloated expectations.

Yep, that was so good. I've not quite fully processed it yet.

I must be alone thinking it was dull (the caveat being I was rather drunk and having girlfriend issues), but it seemed 90% of the sound was the album backing track. I left after 4 tracks.
