Not eveyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoyed Mammothfest at the Green Door this weekend. Two days of metal mayhem clearly put on for love not money. If you are of the extreme metal persuasion I cannot recommend it highly enough, it should be repeated next year.

As for what is coming up, Lucky Jim and Matthew the Oxx at the greys on thursday, Steven James Adams on saturday and Kate Bush in three weeks if she is still up to it.

Totally forgot that I had a KB ticket as well. Busy month.

Very impressed by Slum of Legs supporting the Ravioli Me Away show last night. They must have spent the 9 months since I last saw them furiously practicing. Great songs, great attitude and some lovely sounds from their insane sounding keys. Well worth catching.

Erm . . ever been gigged out, James?

I'll be at Resident. That's it! Think my highlight over the next couple of months is Nils Frahm at the Barbican. I don't even know where Bleach is!

Indeed. Saw them last month at Green Door and really enjoyed them. They were promoting their new, possibly first, single.

I forgot Kate Bush n'all. It does look like a lot, a few will probably fall by the wayside.

Bleach is what they have made of above Hare and Hounds now. They are putting on some good local/national stuff. One to watch.

Yeah I noticed that in Resident today. Saw a few local bands up there in its last guise. A good size. Fingers crossed.

Bestival: 2 Bears probably the best so far. Wish they'd play C2. Can't decide whether to see Sbtrkt or JFB tonight. Skindred currently being terrible. Lethal Bizzle might have been the worst special guest I've ever seen, main stage slot has to be taken as an aggravating factor. Outkast jubilant after a slow start. Beep beep.

I've seen the 2 Bears a few times and they're always good fun. Was this a DJ set? I hear they are now doing a live show.

Live. Great, ultra-positive (but sort of not cheesy) house. Go and seeeeeeee.

Anyone on here responsible for the Albion flag at SBTRKT in the Temple Island tent on Sunday night? I reacted with giddy infantility and tried to get forward to give you a hug, what a marvellous scene. Didn't get any good pictures but accidentally did a vid which shows it:

Just been listening to their first album. Great stuff. I will go-see if they add a Berlin date. I see they're playing the Haunt though.

Esben & The Witch/ Sealings/ Exes was quite a night in London last week. Special mention to the venue, The Oslo in Hackney. Brilliant place, the sound was great and loud, craft beer on tap and the club night after was pretty good.

As for the bands, I didn't catch a great deal of Exes, what I did see was a bit shouty for my tastes. Sealings were punishingly loud, they really release their inner Wolf Eyes playing without drums, great set.

Esben were as good as I've ever seen them. Heavy on the new record but with a few back catalogue treats.
