The Fall last night- one of the best. Great sound and band on top form- quality Sparta. Bloke who got hold of the mike did a great job for I phone.

Sparta was cracking. Bury was as good as I've heard it as well. MES on great form.

This current band are perfect fall musicians. Clearly Eleanor gets a bit of latitude but the other three are completely efficient and unshowy. MES must think he's died and gone to heaven.

What happened to the other drummer though? I had a suspicion he might get on MES's tits.

MES has got quite into giving a mic to someone on the front row at some point to sing along. Normally the recipient is awful but the guy last night did a better impression of MES than MES does these days.

Indeed. Usually it falls flat but he knew his stuff and respect fully due. Only downer from the evening for me was that the merchandise was not its usual 'Fall Fair' and was planning to get a few early Christmas presents.

Enjoyed the Kirt Vile gig last night. Seems to have taken a step back towards a fairly ramshackle set with lots of tuning between songs and incomprehensible 'banter', after the fairly polished show he did on the 'Walking on a Pretty Daze' tour, but was better for it in some ways.

Was glad I never got round to buying a John Grant ticket for tomorrow as meant I could go to Ducktails instead. Anyone else choose them?
Yes. Same Kurt Vile/Ducktails combo as yourself this week. Vile was typically superb.

You get home from a gig, turn on the TV, and discover that 100 people didn't get home from a gig.

Horrific.

Solidarity.

It's totally incongruous to the reasons we go to gigs as well. It's so sad, so very sad.

Agree, solidarity with our French gig friends.

Got Great Escape Tickets today from the extended and improved Resident Records. An impressive amount of vinyl for sale- onwards and upwards I predict.

Reported now on the BBC that an English member of the crew who was selling merchandise is amongst those who died. RIP
