The Milk at Sticky Mikes were excellent. A funky, soulful, wall of sound.
Yes it was pretty disappointing was n't it. I thought the Atlas Sound set was dreadful. Deerhunter better but seemed to be beset by sound and other technical problems (what was going on with the guitars?). I saw Polica at All Saints last year and they managed to produce a decent sound so I don't it's just the venue to blame a maybe just Deerhunters sound not suited to such a venue?

Putting a load of reverb on the vocals and guitars seems entirely unnecessary in a venue which would do that for you naturally.

I heard the same from people at the DH gig. Set pretty much ignored cryptograms, Microcastle and weird Era as well which I would have found doubly frustrating.

(Slightly) Off Topic but who's the best act you've seen live?
Mine was either The Streets or the Foo Fighters until Kendrick Lamar at Reading this year. Everything just worked well, I was the right amount of pissed, with the right friends, with good people around us and he smashed it. For example, he did his verse from F*cking Problems, which is quotable landmine, then rewound it and did it in the style of Snoop Dogg. Overall it was just mad.
Curious to see what others say.

Mine remains: Gil Scott Heron 1986 Nottingham Rock City.
Masterful, tightest band I have ever seen, great venue, great vibe (GSH was not a particularly big draw so those that were there were really up for it) politics, groove & some seriously long jammed versions of classic tracks which landed rather well with my gently stoned state of mind. I took a mate who had never heard of him who was converted within the first song and just kept looking at me mouthing the words 'fvcking hell!' throughout. You knew you were hearing something very special. If I could revisit one gig it would be that one - I'm v confident it would live up to the memory.

God, mutations does look a little lame. I think we can assume the tickets aren't going to sell out, with their 'special offer' and the fact that the venue sizes for the evening stuff is exceeded by the capacity of the event.
The Saturday in particular is slim pickings.
Sunday looks worth the money though as long as I get to see Ought in the afternoon.

Spot on. When you compare it to what Wire put on last year, which memory suggests was a little cheaper, this really is lighter than light. At £60, it's £30 a day. I want to see at least two, probably three, acts that I'd be willing to fork out decent money to see.
There's a couple of acts that I've seen before and would like to see again, but can't be bothered. Ought as you say appeal. But it's just too thin.

IDK - The Sunday has enough for me Merlin Tonto/ Vision Fortune are good, Dan Friel is ace, Ought, Blanck Mass, Om/Jane Weaver, Lightining Bolt, Metz, Talabot/ Vynehall. That's a cracking day for £30.
You're right though, it's no Drill and Drill had 3 extra days (if you count the Big Business show on the Wednesday, which you should because it was bloody brilliant.)
And Saturday looks pretty shocking.
Here's one four you. Julia Holter, Joanna Newsom and Fish are all going head-2-head tomorrow night. Guess which gig I'm going to.
