This active and inactive offside rule is bollocks isn't it? Must be a nightmare to officiate, I'd happily go back to the 'old' offside rules....why fix something that wasn't broken?

He took a lot of abuse - but again I don't think he got a lot wrong. Only one that I can remember. He got a lot more right. And he certainly knew the rules - he was looking for active and inactive. Seemed ok.

He put his flag up every time we passed the ball forward. That's not how the offside rule works.

There is no way in a million years Barnes was offside, and also no chance Sandaza was interfering. The worst one though was Murray given offside when, as he received the ball, he had the Colchester defender BEHIND him, breathing down his neck.

Utterly shocking display, always miles behind the play and very late with the flag too. If it had mattered someone would've lamped him.

No I did not call you a **** and i dont claim to be a superfan but I am not in the minority who were around you who were disturbed by the private joke which certainly did not remain private.

Someone certainly did, who incidentally was twice my age, but like I said I'm not pointing the finger.

 I intend to go to football and have a good time, clowning around with my mates is part of the package. Sorry if our enjoyment offended you.

In light of what has happened on NSC recently, I don't wish to continue this petty argument any further on the board. PM me or speak to me next time.

Well he clearly didn't.

The last decision he waited to see who went for the ball - Sandaza should have gone for it - he left it for Noone - who did start in an offside position.
The moaning about that was lauaghable, Noone was miles offside. He went for it because the linesman hadn't flagged, because he wasn't going for it.

Absolutely. It was actually getting funny towards the end as luckily nothing was riding on it. He's gotta be knocked down to at least Blue Square Premier for a few games. Totally pitiful.

I agree with Mr Burns. The Barnes decision was shocking. In fairness he gave a couple that were right and some fans still had a go at him, but his overall performance was poor.

I didn't think he got that many wrong at all. There were a lot of twats giving him abuse for correct decisions though.

This

Looks like we might be in a minority, but I agree with Notters

And this

He got a lot wrong. I was in line and Murray was onside twice and given off. He was offside twice and given off. And offside twice and given on.
Noone was not offside. And Barnes when through at the end was onside but Sandaza was off, but the lino still gave it.

If it the one I am thinking of (and I think there was only one involving Barnes then he was definitely off.

Well he clearly didn't.

The last decision he waited to see who went for the ball - Sandaza should have gone for it - he left it for Noone - who did start in an offside position.

And finally this.

I'm glad someone posted this - Barnes was nowhere near offside at the end and was sent clean through completely... The lino looked like a kid who wanted attention.

Again ?? !! Murray Saturday, Barnes last night !

Sounds a bit like Theo !

I was there mate - you were watching Premiershite in your arm chair :)

Yep - luckily this mistake wasn't as costly as the B'muff one Sat :fishing:

The lino very much reminded me of Theo - he was about 12 and loved the attention...

It would have helped if he had kept up with play. How can you make a decision when you are 5-10 yards away from where you should be?

This ^

Whether you like it or not, he got most decisions right. He just waited for the ball to be touched by the offending player before raising his flag.

The lino was an idiot. he didn't get every decision wrong but he certainly gave it a good go.

Absolutely these. He was always miles behind play, how so many not notice that?

I think it was broken, offside was being given against players on the other side of the pitch to the ball, linos were raising their flags when anybody was in an offside position often leaving the referee to decide whether or not the player was interfering with play, OK in theory but the ref often did not know which player was being flagged as offside. The present system is as you say a nightmare but on balance I think it is better than the old system and certainly results in less stoppages.
