In the training I attended, all 20 students had a half hour session at the bar on how to pour a pint, Lager and Harvey's. Everyone had to do it, about 50 points flushed down the sink, £ 175 ? So they are taking it seriously.

Yes. Why is this funny ? There were roles in kiosks, hospitality, corporate and the chance of progressing with the company for the right people.

Was there much advice on Conflict Resolution,Ability to Empathize,Management of Personal Emotions and The Ability to Listen Closely to Customers ?

So if Lindleys are recruiting all these new people are we to assume that they will get the long term contract or were all these roles temporary for the rest of this season?

I think BHAFC are looking at several local caterers but I think the Lindley Group deserve a decent shot at this and I hope they succeed in getting the long term contract.

My friend works for Harveys and the 1st thing they tried was to ditch them and bring in Johns Smiths as the only available beer and also outsource the pies from piglets which i think they now have. Just seems odd that after all the tribulations with getting all this in place they try to ditch them straight away. They are still looking at losing the harveys contract so watch this space

I find that hard to believe, and it is not consistent with what we have heard from Paul Barber. If, and it's a big IF, they ditch Harveys they would lose a massive amount of business. Both Harveys and piglets pies are huge successes it makes no commercial sense to ditch them. I can however see the club negotiate a bigger slice of the profits from the catering contract when it does finally change.

.

Did they teach them, no TELL them, not to hand over the full glass to the customer by holding it by the top by the rim? That is the bit I really hate. It is not acceptable to hold a beer glass like that, and in any BASIC training bar staff are told that is not accpetable. It is crystal clear that the training they are getting is not good enough as they almost always carry and hand over the glasses like that. So, whatever the training they are getting is, it is not good training, it is not correct training. Perhaps next time you witness one of these so called trianing sessions you could point this out to the instructor (haha) as he clearly has no clue what he is doing.

For clarity, my pint on Tuesday at half time in the Profile Lounge was handed over like this, as was mine and my friends in the ESL after the game.

Paul Barber will get the best deal for the club in terms of revenue generation , to the fans Harveys and Piglets Pies are sacrosanct but to a hard headed businessman they can be sacrificed.

Does this mean TLO is no longer the ultimate fan boy when it comes to catering at the AMEX?

At the moment given the ridiculous levels of spending on both Harveys and piglets pies I would think they have earned their stripes on the revenue generation front. Any move to the likes of John Smiths would almost certainly see a reduction in sales, and a substantial reduction at that I'd wager. I do not believe we are going to lose Harveys at the ground, if we did, then it's the pub before and after the game for me, and a loss of a couple of hundred quid over the season from me.

Sadly, I can well believe that. However, Azure wanted to do exactly the same - but were told they couldn't.

I'm sure the hard-headed businessman within him would see the obscene sales figures for Harvey's and only wish to encourage more of the same. They all know the brand loyalty given to Piglet's and Harvey's and the success story (the club's words) that this has been.

Didn't someone report that Barber said at a NW Seagulls? Seagulls Over Burwash? meeting stated that the next catering contract must involve Piglet's and Harvey's? Can someone confirm?

Does this mean TLO is no longer the ultimate fan boy when it comes to catering at the AMEX?

Pillock.

I had the priviledge in being involved in a recruitment process recently with the Lindley Group, the new Amex caterers.

They are doing things the right way with a Root and Branch review of the catering at the Amex.

The training was intensive and they are doing things the right way to improve the service and speed of the Amex catering experience.

They are getting the right people in the right roles. All the youngsters I met were very positive and I am sure after the new caterers have " bedded in " huge improvements will be seen.

Stick with them. They have the right ideas. Customer service, excellence, speed and increasing sales for the benefit of the company and BHAFC.

All the best the Lindley Group.

But did you get the job?

Let's hope the chap who attempted to serve me and a mate on Tuesday night gets some English language and basic arithmetic lessons as part of this comprehensive training. He had great difficulty in:

a.) Understanding the request of "two pints and two halves of Harvey's please".
b.) Finding it extremely difficult to add the price of the drinks in his head.

It wasn't his fault, as a person who does not have a basic grasp of English should not be put into this difficult situation, but that is what rip-off Britain is all about now - exploiting low paid people and charging exorbitant prices.

On another note the caterers have now deemed it good customer service to charge £2.00 for half a pint of Harvey's rather than the correct price of £1.95.

And we're now customers?

As the Outlaw Josie Wales said: "don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining".

For reference we were served from one of the Harvey's mobile beer outlets in the West Stand Lower.
