Normally I'd be excited by Spielberg but Warhorse was such dross I couldn't care less. I certainly won't be booking opening night tickets!

this .... biggest load of sentimental old turd ive ever seen. the bit where the one horse helps the other is comical . like that happens in real life . in real life if one horse was worked into the ground lying on the floor the other horse would jump on it and hump it

I thought it was superb and so has everyone else who has seen it with me as well. He can only work with the source material. The author said it was the best film he could have imagined from the book he made so I guess his opinon carries some weight.

Warhorse just doesn't appeal to me enough to seek it out but if it was on telly I'd probably watch it. I imagine for what it is it's fine. It is after all, from a children's book.

I watched Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies at the weekend, a B movie rip off of Lincoln:Vampire Slayer. I can't imagine Spielberg topping this masterpiece.

Well it's all subjective. All I can say is I thought he could have been more picky, as this stage of his career, with the source material. Everyone I know thought it was awful. BY FAR his worst stuff.

Did Spielberg do the TinTin movie? That wasn't held in very high regard was it? Never seen it but I wish these great Director's of old would stop embracing CGI so much. I know that they are trying to pioneer and tread new ground but what made their previous movies enjoyable was the stunts and the story and adventure, not CGI stuff.

He did and it was generally very well received I believe.

Spielberg's weakest film imo is Always. A stunning scene with the two planes and the water drop aside it was pretty average.

Fair enough, I'm sure I read some pretty negative reviews at the time. I'm sure it made a good income but the general impression I got from reviews was "meh". Is it any good?

Have you seen the interview with Spielberg on Inside The Actors Studio? You can get the whole thing on YouTube. Was very good. I don't like the host but Spielberg is very good on it, especially talking about his early life and career. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

I would think that being able to put "Nominated for ELEVEN Academy Awards" on your posters, billboards, trailers and DVD cases is still a fairly big deal?

I do agree about the acting awards to some extent, but exactly the same could be said for all the technical ones, surely? Its his job to pull everything together to make the film as a whole, no?

You make some valid points hans but Spielberg has never had an actor or actress, lead or supporting win an oscar in an extraordinary 40 year career. That to me is a snub as there have been several worthy winners.

And Dustin Hoffman as Hook didn't even get a f*cking nomination and that is just plain WRONG.

It's just been released here in the States. I didn't think it was possible for a film to be so boring. Felt more like a history lesson than a movie. I only went because my girlfriend wanted to see it. It will probably do really good box office as it's been released just before the Thanksgiving holiday and a lot of yanks will feel it's their patriotic duty to watch it. There are already a lot of rumblings from Americans about Lincoln being played by a Brit. It's getting good reviews and I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy it, it just didn't do it for me
