Released in '79. In fact, our last time in the top flight - '79 - '83 - coincided with an amazing period of pop music, one of the best in my opinion

I was going to start this thread after the event, however it's good to see it's here.

Let's look at the songs in the UK chart this time in 1979.

Elvis Costello and Oliver's Army has gone (I'm surprised it took 27 posts). So let's just feed the stereo-type....

So so many great musical memories of 1979 . Should have been concentrating on my A levels , but decided to see so many great gigs . The Undertones playing Blackburn is still the best gig I've ever been to .
And I seem to remember seeing the Fall every few weeks , so it's not one song , but still my favourite Mark E Smith LP


I was doing A levels that year too - remember breaking from revision for the Easter programme of games, 3 in 4 days - wins at home to Charlton and Bristol Rovers, and what looked at the tiime to be a costly loss at Cardiff.
