Obviously, we're all grown ups so i'm not going to insult anybody by putting up graphs but we all know that wealth inequality is increasing hugely year on year and has been for the last couple of decades. You either have to believe that is justifiable and try to capture the people who have suffered from it, with simple slogans  or it is not, and if not, where should it be regulated. And how should that regulation be defined ?

I appreciate that for both yourself and myself this isn't quite as intense as it may be for some others, and wouldn't suffer as much and consequently not be so susceptible to simple grifters but it's an interesting question ???
From the business page in yesterday's Observer - but the Tories and their echo chambers in the press tell us that it is train drivers and junior doctors who are greedy, over-paid, and cause inflation!

Wow, so everyone who voted for Brexit was uneducated. Do you ever stop and think before you post ridiculous statements like this?
The figures broadly support my statement but there was an element of hyperbole to my post.

I was referring more to the lack of research most leave voters undertook before casting their vote.

It would have been nice if they had educated themselves more on at least the basics so they could tell fact from fiction and make an informed choice.

Given the amount of law involved in the whole process and the 600+ EU laws that were revoked afterwards I would venture that everyone who voted had the same lack of education whether they voted leave or remain

Speak for yourself. I knew exactly what remain meant and had a fairly sound notion of what leave would result in. And so far, I’ve been proved right. And then some!

I’m not sure what bearing all those laws being revoked has on your argument?

It’s over a thousand by the way, I educated myself.

But genuinely , what do you mean by that?

Do you have any evidence to support the case that Leave and Remain voters were equally ignorant of the implications of the vote? Do you class everyone on here who believes Remain was the best option and says so as 'the usual suspects'?

1970 to early 80’s, overall, was an awful time economically for the UK. Not sure about the 60’s …. I was just a nipper scared of Dr Who and Arthur Brown :lolol: . A series of crashes that brought down businesses, we produced the worst goods in the developed world, rising unemployment, mass industrial disputes, ascending nations such as Italy laughed at us as “the sick man of Europe”.
Scared of Arthur ? The one and only ‘God of Hellfire.’😁
Actually, when the kids were small I used to put the cassette of old ‘60’s hits on in the car and turn Arthur up really loud. They used to jump out of their skins and then laugh!
Child cruelty!

You are correct. Rrodge is thinking of Sunak only.

Everyone, please note the mod’s post #1,396.
We can try and ignore it as an issue as all the major parties chose to do in the recent elec election.

But the fact is the decision to commit economic self harm to ourselves at some point will need to be addressed by the government.

In the meantime tax rises are coming (Brexit levies)

In a positive way i.e. future closer ties or more.

But not raking over old coals about who was less intelligent etc.

I haven't had any conversations with anyone ever about how much train drivers are paid.

In fairness, it’s been quite a topic of conversation over beers recentlyin my experience. A common thread is why train drivers not nurses, nhs porters etc, police officers, care workers, farmers/farm workers, paramedics etc - all of whom are truly essential to our society. No trains causes huge inconvenience for some but nobody will die.

Labour is a real resource. It is of limited availability. Thus, when the cost goes up, that is inflation. To avoid that cost increase, we import labour from overseas, whether that's skilled surgeons or unskilled fruit pickers.

We imported fruit pickers because domestic labour found it too hard work. Nothing to do with pay. Now we grow less fruit and veg and import more as a consequence. The cost of food has risen as a result and has thus fuelled inflation.
