We shouldn't forget that he, irrespective of all that is going on, is a man who lost his mother yesterday.

Truss has a very unfortunate smirky grin on her face all the time, apart from her just being unfortunate.

Other than that I thought Charles Mk III did really well, heartfelt and spot on. Unlike what appears to be a lot on here, I like having a monarchy like we have - head of state without the control of a dictator. Been ok for me in my lifetime. Maybe it’s a generation thing.

Not so long ago Truss was calling the monarchy a disgrace that should be abolished and now she is leading a commemoration for the Queen. Strange world.

It would be nice to think the gutter press might take the hint now on Harry and Meghan and leave them be, however I suspect that’s a forlorn hope.

Not so long ago was 28 years ago, when she was 19 years old.
Two days ago she said the country will pay for the energy cap on bills for consumers and business and not impose a windfall tax on the billions the companies are making during the energy crisis. Our kids will be paying for her unscrupulous largesse for years to come and I hate her more for that than what she said as an immature, naive teen.

Good effort. I certainly couldn't have made any sort of speech without welling up and breaking down the day after my mum died. Couldn't see anything wrong in what he said either. Very astute politically too - Duchy of Cornwall handed over (and Duchies, IIRC, usually only get handed over on the death of the incumbent, but he's now distanced himself from some of the more controversial causes he championed as the Duke), Prince of Wales title handed over, the status of Camilla clearly and firmly defined and he clarified his and the family's love for his younger son and grandchildren; privately loved as family, but very definitely not in the Royal loop and will live in the USA (or elsewhere abroad).

There was an awful lot in that speech - it was a very clever one. I wonder who wrote it, and how much he contributed to it. I wonder if his mum had a hand in it too ..................

Definitely…….wish I could have done that for the eulogy at my sister’s funeral. Hardest thing I’ve ever done.

I like Charlie, think he’ll be good - although v concerned about his health. Oedema very evident, points to possible heart issues.

Perhaps if Harry and Meghan could stop doing interviews, tweeting and writing books sniping at the Royal Family, the press wouldn't have anything to write about them.
