All you're doing is bringing things back up that have already been swept under the carpet and forgotten about by the media.
Our manager isn't racist and we don't exactly have an issue with racism in our club. End of.

Spot on

There was NEVER any intention of conning people to sign something they didn't agree with.
This really was an honest attempt to keep the Kick Racism Out of Football campaign alive. Gus Poyets comments were published on the KIO website, so any criticism of him was not at odds with the aims of the campaign.
On the day that Poyet made his comments, NSC had lots of threads with posts saying that the club should respond in some way.
The petition wording didn't call for any sanctions against the manager, just that the club continue to maintain an anti-racist committment.
By all means PM me if you are now unhappy and want your signature removed.

I was happy to be given a Kick Racism Out of Football sticker on Saturday and was happy to wear it. As someone with Chinese heritage who has experienced racism growing up in this country, I continue to be strongly against racism in all its guises.

I would like you to consider, though, that you may have put the course of progress against racism back with your poorly executed petition exercise. If you were openly (and, in my view, unfairly) standing against Gus Poyet's comments, why didn't you have his name or image clearly on a banner? Why didn't you discuss him and what he said with people as they were signing? As it was, many people, in too much of a rush to read the fine print, were left with the impression it was a general activity in favour of the campaign rather than one that pointed the finger at the club.

Next time someone in this city is taking a stand against racism in relation to football, don't be surprised if people are a little less trusting, a little less willing to take a sticker or sign a petition, and a little less likely to become committed supporters of the campaign.

Not sure if there's any point in trying to convince whoever it was who said I was Jonny Fever that I'm not! I signed up this evening because I was so appalled at the vitriol being poured on those manning the stall yesterday. I know them to be straight-up, honest, decent people with good intentions and it saddens me to hear them being spoken of in such unpleasant terms, that's all. Jonny Fever's second comment sums it up, really.

Oh, it's definitely worth pointing out. I, for one, did not think you were a secondary account of Johnny Fever. From time to time on NSC, people do join because they are bursting to make a post on a particular thread. I'll put it this way to you: Gus Poyet's very good intentions were also misconstrued. Now Johnny and you both know how he feels.

Albion manager Gus Poyet recently dismissed the seriousness of racism in football claiming that abuse of one player towards another isn't racism. However, the law and the majority of Brighton and Hove supporters would agree that it is, and shouldn't be tolerated.

You f***ing lying wanker :tosser:

Gus Poyet never said anything of the sort.

If this clown turns up at the game again with his shit decorating table I urge everyone to spend a few minutes of their time educating others who are thinking of signing. Glad I swerved it at the time.

In your first post after registering (Post number 26 on page 2 of this thread) you said "this Jonny Fever bloke seems to talk a lot of sense" this gives the impression you don't know him, do you know him?

Abort, retry, fail
I'd happily sign a petition against a manager (regardless of their performance), if I believed that they were racist.

I happily would NOT sign a petition dragging Poyet into a racism row with a bunch of quotes from various sources. Did the petitioners think to ask Gus directly on his feelings (as opposed to third hand) before compiling this petition?

Shambles.

I'll give you honesty, if I see that stall, as already stated, I will kick the fucker down. Do NOT turn up at the AMEX with a view to take people in the club down. You are the sort of people who ring up when they see an advert they don't like and are part of the 14 who complained resulting in costing companies millions, you think you can act all rightious, giving it the biggun on here and out and about with some bullshit stall? Like someone previously said, display Gus on your banners and tell fans that's what you're campaigning about, I tell you now I won't have to kick the thing down because it'll be burning before 1pm on the day. What sad miserable fuckers you are behind that stall, it's been discussed, it's been noted by the FA and NOBODY has acted on it, do you think 240 people signing a petition that most of them have probably been duped into signing will change anything?

I doubt it, now f*** off back to watching adverts on ITV in the hope that you might spot a bit of bra or someone saying crap on live tele so you can spew your SHIT to officials who get paid to listen to your drivel, because nobody on here is interested.

Gus Poyets comments were published on the KIO website, so any criticism of him was not at odds with the aims of the campaign.

So, you can criticise anyone who has their words quoted on the KIO website and are still in keeping with the kick it out campaign? Lord Herman Ouseley has had comments quoted on KIO website, can I criticise him and not be at odds with the aims of the campaign?

The petition wording didn't call for any sanctions against the manager, just that the club continue to maintain an anti-racist committment.

You were getting a petition together to call for the club to keep doing what it is already doing and showing no signs of stopping (no, I don't include not commenting on misconstrued comments of the manager by a sound-bite media as giving up on the whole kick it out thing)?

High up on the South Downs.
The irony here is that there is genuine racism in football aimed at Gus Poyet, from the refs, because of his South American origins.

I saw the stall and heard a girl with a very posh accent demanding people to sign - typical affluent student left wing poseurs I suspect.

Loads of people signed it. Lots of people handing out stickers, I thought it was one of the many kick racism out of football days the club and league run.

The woman with the petition waas just saying sign a petition to 'kick racism out of Brighton and Hove Albion football club'. As we are all used to signing pertitions for our club its easy to think its another fan/club lead initiative. Will be interesting to see what reception they may get again if members of the public feel they have been duped..

So you signed a petition without asking what it was about?

Signed by accident

How many other idiots are there out there?

I've already admitted I was an idiot to sign it

What I object to is the way they went about collecting signatures under a very recognised banner - I assumed ( and I know I shouldn't have ! ) that I was signing a petition supporting the very well known cause - all the merchandise suggested it to be a valid cause. In reality they were very careful to make it look like the well known cause while using it to support their own aims.

So I'm guessing, as you're so perfect, you've never been conned, by anyone ?
